I’m in shock; this year has totally flown by. I don’t even have a Halloween costume, and my best idea was stolen! So rude. We had a fabulous weekend of brunch, shopping, and a fashion show with Betsy Fisher and Coye Nokes. We hope your weekend was equally splendid and you have your trick-or-treat attire ready to go.

Get your work out accomplished in an epic fashion with VIDA Fitness at the Howard Theatre for a one-of-a-kind Zumba experience at our the annual Dance til Dawn Zumbathon. Do some jewelry shopping for a good cause. Jewelry designer Alberto Parada will host a private trunk show to benefit the March of Dimes in anticipation of the March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Gala at the Ritz (hope you have your tickets to the November gala). This lovely little shindig will feature passed hors d’oeuvres from Jamie Leeds of Hank’s Oyster Bar, signature cocktails from Jo-Jo Valenzuela of Iron Gate, and a giveaway of a piece by Parada. 10 percent of sales benefit March of Dimes. 5 to 8 p.m.. We’re so excited to attend this year’s Washington International Horse Show. There are events all week, including the Saturday President’s Cup Grand Prix where Olympic medalists take huge jumps and compete for the trophy. Thursday night is Barn Night, a local favorite, where kids from barns around D.C. and other areas come to compete for prizes like Biggest Group, Most Spirited, Best Video, and more. Friday night is Military Night, featuring the Puissance high-jump class, where they keep raising the height of the big Puissance wall until someone knocks it down. Still in the mood for Oktoberfest? Then head to Bethesda Row. Redwood Restaurant will be hosting its third annual Oktoberfest with beer, brats and lederhosen. Stroll the lane and sample beers from DC Brau, Flying Dog, Starr Hill, New Belgium and more. Additionally, a portion of event proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Day-of admission is $39 for the regular package, which includes twelve tickets worth $24 for food and beer, a commemorative mug, and a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Later in the evening there is a slew of Halloween parties happening. The George and Mason Inn Halloween Party at Cargnegie Library, a four-hour open party that’s sure to be mayhem and features music by Always Morning, Katita & The Fajitas, The Trophy Brothers and DJ Dimmy. That same night, BYT is throwing a Twerk or Treat Halloween Party at the Sphinx Club, with music, booze, and costumes. Pick your poison.
Becca will be celebrating Halloween by bopping about her ‘hood during the Shaw Main Streets Halloween Bar Crawl on Saturday. The third annual event will be an afternoon of bar hopping fun up and down 7th Street and 9th Street. Participants will get fantastic drink and food specials at a slew of venues in the wickedly cool Shaw neighborhood.
