Gobble, gobble Bitches! Thanksgiving week is upon us and we’re looking forward to a short week with plenty of food and time with friends and family. I’m jetting back home to Chicago tonight, but if you’re staying in the city there are plenty of fun activities to keep you calendar busy. Here’s what we’re looking forward to this week.
Start your week off on a cozy note and hunker down with some movies. BAM has curated a “Turkeys for Thanksgiving” collection of box-office bombs, critically maligned cult favorites, and hits with notoriously troubled production stories. Get your tickets here. 30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217
Free beer alert! Bierkrafts is packed on Tuesdays for 7 p.m. tastings of brand new brews from local up-and-comers such as Greenport Harbor, as well as obscure seasonal releases and hard-to-find vintages, like a 2007 Bare Tree Weiss Wine from Illinois’s Two Brothers. Get more info here. 191 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215
If free ice skating on a 17,000-square-foot outdoor rink (bring your own skates!) isn’t enough, you can also enjoy 128 holiday shops at the Winter Village at Bryant Park, including a bunch of new kiosks and eateries such as Marty V’s Burger and Super Mac + Cheez. And after you shop and skate, warm up at spacious rinkside restaurant Celsius. Vendors are open until January 6th, but the rink is open until March 6th. Find more info here. Bryant Park (42nd St and 6th Ave), New York, NY
Three hour open bar. Delectable buffet. Million dollar view of the parade. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the parade over brunch at Quality Italian. Tickets start at $259 and are available here. 57 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019
Nothing goes better with beer than a little healthy competition. Head over for good times and hot dogs for a skee-ball night at Full Circle Bar in Williamsburg. Find more info here. 318 Grand Street. Brooklyn, NY 11211
Now that the day after Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to eat again. Recently we enjoyed the salmon omelette and lobster Benny at Greenwich Street Tavern in TriBeCa. Read our full review here. 399 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10013
Thanks to members of local rock band, The Bushwick Hotel, there’s a new kick-ass flea market in Bushwick. The indoor bonanza—held inside The Paper Box—features live music from local bands, craft goods, delicious grub, and a designated spot where you can get a real tattoo by Ulyss from Magic Cobra Tattoo and haircut or a beard trim. Gotta love Brooklyn! View more info here. 17 Meadow St, Brooklyn, NY 11206
