This Week in NYC: May 26-June 1
May 26, 2014 by Emily
Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re all nursing sunburns and wine spritzer headaches on your first day off of summer. After a glorious staycation weekend where I avoided anything involving traffic or travel and ate my face off at New York hotpots without the usual wait, I’m facing June with renewed energy and a few extra pounds. Dust of those white pants and join the Bitches in our flourishing social cal; it’s a short week, you have no excuse!
Monday
If you didn’t get an invite to a friend’s beach house this weekend and you’re suffering from some suntan FOMO, catch the Seastreak ferry today on the East side for a quick 40 minute trip to the Sandy Hook beach. Affordable, quick, and a beautiful way to see New York, this is an unbeatable option for your holiday. Find the ferry schedule here.
Tuesday
Blizzards are coming to NYC. I repeat, Blizzards are coming to NYC. I’m not talking about another bout of bad weather; I’m talking about the first ever Dairy Queen opening right off Union Square. I suggest you head there from work and try their Big Apple Blizzard flavor, exclusively for us. 54 West 14th Street.
Wednesday
It’s time to refresh your wardrobe for summer, and we’ve got the perfect place. La Garçonne is opening its first brick and mortar store this week in Tribeca, featuring luxury fashion and emerging designers. 465 Greenwich Street
Thursday
It can be tough to commit to a studio class when beautiful weather beckons you outside. Why not combine both with Bryant Park’s free outdoor yoga this Thursday from 6-7 p.m. RSVP online here.
In other news, the Bitches will be heading to Brooklyn Uncorked tonight to sample amazing Brooklyn foodie fare and sip on fancy wine. Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased here. 1 Hanson Place, Brooklyn, NY
Friday
Happy weekend! Impress your beaus with these double bean cheesy quesadillas with creamy avocado yogurt dip for a Friday night in. Show us your finished masterpieces by hash tagging #bitchesinthekitchen.
Saturday
Join Rooftop Films and Time Out New York for the New York premiere of Ping Pong Summer directed by Michael Tully, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures at the Old American Can Factory on May 30 at 8pm, offering specialty cocktails and a killer venue for an outdoor movie. 232 3rd St, Brooklyn, NY
Sunday
Get your brunch on. Head to Williamsburg and try recently reviewed and Bitch-approved Reynard, open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 80 Wythe Ave, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
