I think we all begin our weeks with heavy hearts as we question how it’s already the last week of summer. The only buffer between us and our seasonal depression is the approaching holiday weekend. The long weekend is yet another reason to participate in an extra amount of fun activities, as we soak up our chilled watermelon cocktails and al fresco dining in our last few days of white jeans. Check out our picks for this week below.
Start your week off right with a new happy hour at Cherry Izakaya, sister Brooklyn restaurant of Cherry at Dream Downtown. The happy hour will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will include discounted drinks and snacks. Because who doesn’t love bacon sushi? 138 N 8th St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Pretty soon, crab feasts will be a distant memory as we feast on all things pumpkin and squash. Before we get nostalgic, we’re closing the summer in a big way at Back Forty’s annual crab-a-palooza, which returns tonight and runs through August 30. Tickets are available online here for $55. 190 Avenue B, New York, NY
Bitches Who Brunch is a big fan of boutique fitness, especially when it’s free! We encourage everyone to try New York’s newest barre studio, Barre 3, which is offering free classes all week until Labor Day. Book your class here. 63 West 8th St. New York, NY
Last week, Ally and I thoroughly enjoyed the bespoke cocktails at popup bar La Isla Escondida in Mulberry Project’s back garden. The charming atmosphere, delicious bacon-wrapped peanut butter (!) dates, and inventive cocktails make this a must-try while the weather’s still nice. 149 Mulberry St. New York, NY
Kick off your weekend with an epic dance party at Electric Zoo, and get lost in the EDM from the likes of David Guetta and A-Trak, who both play Friday evening. Single day tickets are still on sale here. Randall’s Island Park
Take advantage of the last weekend of summer to secure difficult brunch reservations and head to Tribeca for a classy meal at Locanda Verde. Prepare to be amazed by their pastries, lemon ricotta pancakes, and broccoli rabe sausage grinder. Read my review here for more mouthwatering descriptions. 377 Greenwich St. New York, NY
Looking for a boozy brunch to continue the long weekend with a fun group of friends? Try Essex in the Lower East Side for a $34.95 deal that includes bottomless mimosas, Bloody Marys, and screwdrivers with one entrée from the expansive menu. Read the review here. 120 Essex St. New York, NY
