This Week in NYC: April 13-19

Happy Monday, Bitches! Spring is in the air and I think I’m finally retiring my puffer jackets for the season…knock on wood. This week is sure to fly by as I’m heading out the city early for DC to celebrate Bitches Who Brunch’s fifth birthday at our rose-fueled fete. If you’re in DC this Sunday, buy a ticket for our birthday bash here. Otherwise, see below for our top event picks in the city this week.

Start your week off on a healthy note and enjoy the sunny weather with ASICS Run Club. The group meets at 6 p.m. and runs at various paces and distances along several city routes. The group is geared towards runners at all levels. Best of all, join the group for refreshments and a run assessment afterward at the ASICS store. The cherry blossoms are officially in bloom at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Take a stroll through the magnificent grounds near the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park; it features thousands of types of flora among more than 52 acres. 990 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY

Film aficionados, rejoice! The Tribeca Film Festival has kicked off and day passes are now available, starting today. Staying in tonight? Impress your friends and loved ones by whipping up Emily’s easy and delicious recipe for a spicy kale and coconut stir fry. The dish keeps well for leftovers and is super healthy as well. Click here for the recipe.

There are few things we love more than vino so we’re excited to celebrate Malbec World Day tonight at the Dream Downtown. A $60 ticket will get you an evening full of wine tastings, live music, bites, and wine talks to have you talking like a real oenophile. More information here. 355 W 16th St, New York, NY

We’re also giving away two tickets to the event! Follow @BWBrunchNYC on Twitter and let us know your favorite type of Malbec for your chance to win.

Cheese please! Taste your way through six of New York’s gooiest grilled cheese sandwiches at the annual Big Cheesy event by Time Out. You’ll have the chance to eat your way through a variety of sammys washed down by complimentary Goose Island beer and cast your vote for the winner.  201 Mulberry St, New York, NY

On Sundays we brunch. Lately, we’ve enjoyed the churro pops at The Black Ant in the East Village and the caramelized Brussels sprouts at Le Philosophe in Noho.
