Plenty of fun foodie events this week including Chef’s Best and Zoofari. We’re giving away two tickets to the food, wine and zoo animals events, scroll down to Thursday for more information.
The early bird catches the worm. After a quick workout at Vida Fitness, and a breakfast sammich via Commissary’s new Breakfast Club App, I set about curating your social calendar before heading to the ole’ nine-to-five. The Breakfast Club App is a loyalty program for Bitches Who Love Breakfast. Tech-savvy restaurants serving our fave meal of the day? That’s so DC. Download the app in the iTunes app store by searching for “Commissary.” Commissary, 1443 P St. N.W., Washington, D.C.

It’s a busy little Thursday, just how we like it!
First up, we have a giveaway to win a pair of tickets to ZooFari! Yes, the annual event that mixes zoo animals, wine, and gourmet cuisine, i.e. you can drink French wine, eat light bites from Chef Todd Gray and others, while spending quality time with the Pandas. This year, more than 100 of DC’s top restaurants are participating with guest appearances from celebrity chefs RJ Cooper, Anne Alfano, Fredrick De Pue, and Todd Gray. There is also a silent auction, animal demos and viewings, and wine from local and international vineyards. The proceeds benefit the Zoo’s animal conservation and educational programs.
To win a pair of tickets: (1) Follow @BitchesWhoBrunch on Instagram, (2) Follow @BtchesWhoBrunch and the @NationalZoo on Twitter, and (3) and tell us your favorite alcohol and animal combination in the comments, i.e. “I’d live to drink Chardonnay and hang with the Ostriches.” Get creative, Bitches. 6:30-9:30 p.m., The National Zoo, 3001 Connecticut Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.
It’s a perfect evening for a little live music and cocktails overlooking the White House for another evening of the W Hotel’s POV live. The Pass, a glowing dance pop band from Louisville, Kentucky, is in town this Thursday evening. So, dance your face off, take in the view, and sip on $7 beers and $12 specialty cocktails. The event is free and open to the public, RSVP to email@example.com. Doors open at 7:30pm, opening act, Pleasure Curses will perform at 8:30pm, and The Pass will perform at 9:30pm. The W Hotel, 515 15th St. N.W., Washington, D.C.
It’s in everyone’s best interest that Washington’s men are well-dressed and well-groomed. In that vein, head to The Huxley to celebrate Washington’s menswear entrepreneurs. My personal favorites are Read Wall, the American-made menswear designer who makes great shirts, suits, and slacks, and Stubble & Stache, a grooming and beauty line for men from a former Marine. The Huxley, 1730 M St. N.W., Washington, D.C.
We’re off to the races! If you can’t make it out to Maryland for the Preakness, put on your best race day ensemble and head to the Brixton instead. It’s the U Street British bar and restaurant’s third installment of the Triple Crown Party series. The day kicks off at 2 p.m. with gin or bourbon mint juleps sponsored by Bulleit and Kettle One. The race will be shown in the lodge and on the roof deck. Southern belle and gentlemen attire is encouraged. The Brixton, 901 U St. N.W., Washington, D.C.
If you’d like something more private, schedule a cocktail class over at Quench, restaurant, cocktail bar, live music venue, and fave brunch spot of the Bitches. The afternoon class features cocktail shaking lessons with three hand-crafted cocktails of your choice, as well as gourmet grub for when you get hungry.
