Find Brunch Right Now

This Week in CHI: Feb 26 – March 4

Happy Monday Bitches! Plans this week? Well if you are looking for things to do around the city, we have got you covered. Temps will be in the 50’s, so we insist that you take advantage of the good weather! Here is your social calendar for this week.

It is the grand opening of Tied House. Located next to Shubas Tavern, the popular music venue in the heart of the Southport neighborhood. Tied House is the perfect place to pop in before a show, or to have a delicious meal in a gorgeous space. Brought to you by “Top Chef Masters” competitor, Executive Chef Debbie Gold, Sous-Chefs Ryan Carbone (formerly of Dusek’s) and Chuck Woods (formerly of Girl and the Goat) Tied House will offer upscale Midwest flavors in a truly divine space. Look out for menu items like house made Raviolo with duck egg, potato, seaweed, and sesame seed, short rib made with black garlic, blue foot mushroom, and lemongrass, and monkfish with kohlrabi, green apple, barley, and bonito. The impressive space boasts bright, modern accents with materials linked to Schubas, such as brick patterning, copper accents and an oversize ceiling tile inspired by the pressed tin ceiling in the tavern.  For more information and reservations, click here.

In keeping up with restaurant openings as we Bitches do, last Friday the highly anticipated Bar Biscay opened in West Town on Chicago Avenue and we popped in to see what it is all about (stay tuned for a #ThirstyThursday recap!). This new restaurant celebrates cuisine of a typical Spanish brasserie with items such as pintxos, vermouth on tap and more, in a American minimalist-designed space. We absolutely loved the interior’s light wood accents and the bright neon lighting incorporated everywhere. The menu contains curated selections of French and Spanish meats and cheeses, as well as From the Sea offerings featuring oysters and scallop ceviche. A Mano a Boca section contains small plates such as grilled chicken livers and gougéres with garlic aioli while the large plates section ranges from sausage-stuffed piquillo peppers to whole fluke to steak frites. Make reservations ASAP for dinner, or pop in before the rush for pinxtos and cocktails during happy hour. For more information, click here.

Check out Sonic Eating: An Underground Dinner. Inspired by puertas cerradas in Buenos Aires and held in secret locations in an intimate setting, together with 11 others you will discover how sense withdrawal can enhance your personal dining experience while coloring your interactions with other diners. Experience combined sense withdrawal and selective sensory stimulation, to nourish your entire being. A 3-course meal is catered by vegan chef Max and sonic mindfulness is performed by certified sound practitioner Maraliz. Drink pairings are optional for added fee. Celebrate International Polar “Beer” Day with Lincoln Park AAZK, raising money for Trees For You and Me. February 27th is International Polar Bear Day, and to mark the occasion, the zoo is hosting their 4th annual fundraiser at Half Acre Beer Company (Balmoral) on March 1st. The $25 cost of admission gets you a tour of the brewery, items from the skewer bar featuring pork shoulder, seasonal mixed vegetables with assorted sides and toppings, as well as a tasting of four of their current beers….and not the usual 4 oz pours; these will be 12 oz each! There are only 80 spots available so hurry up and grab yours. For tickets and more information, click here.

TGIF! We will be checking out the all-day breakfast offerings at Cupitol Coffee + Eatery, located in Streeterville. Menu items range from a variety of omelets and the sweet potato bowl with brown rice, kale, vegan coconut curry and a poached egg to sweeter items including the Nutella banana Belgian waffle and sticky bun French toast. Brunch mimosas and bloody Mary’s are offered 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. while there’s an all-day cocktail menu that begins at 11 a.m. Additionally, there are expansive coffee and cold-pressed juice options. Yum! It is the perfect spot to post up with our laptop and get some work done all day. For more information, click here.
