Bah-humbug: it’s Monday, it’s freezing, and we haven’t done our Christmas shopping yet. We’re hoping a little snow and some holiday cheer puts us (and you) in the mood. There are lots of festivities happening This Week.
Start your week off on a festive note by stopping by the downtown Holiday Market. Arts and crafts, Christmas ornaments, delicious food, live music and more from 12-8 p.m. daily at Gallery Place. Details, here.
The Capitol’s Christmas Tree will be lit tonight at 5 p.m.! Details, here.
Beauty boutique Blue Mercury hosts a Holiday Party from 4-10 p.m. at their Georgetown store. Enjoy champagne, treats and free samples while you do your Holiday shopping and get free gift wrapping and lots of deals. (The Dupont Circle store’s party is 4-10 p.m. Thursday). Details, here.
The Obamas will light the National Christmas Tree tonight at 5 p.m. Performers include BB King, Sara Bareilles, and Maroon Five. The tree is available for viewing dusk until 11 p.m. for the rest of the month. More details, here.
The hysterically funny Second City Comedy Troupe returns to the Bitches’ fave theater, the Woolly Mammoth, for “A Girl’s Guide to Washington Politics.” Opens Wednesday and we, of course, have tickets. We suggest heading there Friday night. Tickets, here.
Stop by the 14th and U Street area MidCity Holly Days to do your Christmas shopping. More than 100 boutiques are hosting special events, trunk shows, sales, and more with extra perks like free gift wrapping. Highlights include a visit from Santa to Miss Pixies, a jewelry trunk show at Caramel and a holiday party at Rue. More details, here.
Don’t have brunch plans? We suggest heading to J&G Steakhouse at the W Hotel. They just relaunched their brunch with an expanded menu and live jazz. We checked it out Sunday and it was absolutely AH-mazing. Plus, the hotel is decorated with plenty of Holiday cheer that will help get you in the spirit!
