It’s no secret that I love this casual Bloomingdale spot. Close to my apartment and office, the Pub & the People is my go-to for drinks after work with my co-workers. It’s a quintessential neighborhood spot; on any given day, you’ll find it filled with young professionals at happy hour, families enjoying the great weather on the patio, and friends meeting up after a bike ride.

The Vibe
The Pub’s unpretentious, cozy vibes are great for a late brunch (Read our brunch review here). Hungry? Try “The Heidi” chicken sandwich, any of the burgers, and the blistered Shishito peppers side. Service can be a bit inattentive during busy hours, but if you’re not in a hurry, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy yourself.

Is This Seat Taken?
Snag a seat at the long bar inside, or meet your neighbors at the picnic tables outside. We visited the Pub & the People for an afternoon of cold brews on a sunny Saturday. The patio was bustling but not overcrowded – consider it next time your favorite beer garden is just too overwhelming.

The Libations
I’ll be the first to testify that The Pub & The People has great happy hour specials. Every weekday from 3-7 p.m. and 12-2 a.m., get $2 off drafts, wine and $4 rail drinks. Yes, that means you can snag a cold bottle of suds for as low as $2.

Thirsty Thursday at The Pub & The People

Thanks to our Passport Program booklets, we got 2-for-1 beers to start. There is a nice mix of mostly local craft beers on tap and by the bottle. We opted for Jailbreak’s Feed the Monkey, RAR Brewing’s Groove City Hefe and a Champion Shower Beer, among others. If you’re looking for cocktails, I highly recommend the Maryland Mule (made with a Maryland bourbon instead of vodka) or the creative pineapple and Jalapeño margarita.
