No shame, the inner child in me loves going to the zoo. I found this visit particularly eventful as I was able to catch animals doing lots of exciting things that made me “ooo ahhhhh” just as much as the pig-tailed five-year-old next to me.

An organutan putting his shirt on due to the cold weather:

Asian otters (my favorite) snuggling:

A panda (Steph’s favorite) grubbing:

Another, lazier panda, chomping:

(Apparently all pandas do is eat).

And, an emu: “What chu lookin at, willis?”

And, most amusing of all, graphic explanations of panda procreation at child-height:

The National Zoo, located in Woodley Park,  is free (like all Smithsonian Institutions) and open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
