The Lust List: Winter Layers

Despite that it is almost March (!!!), our editors in New York, Washington, and Chicago are still getting hit hard with sub-zero wind chills and icy terrain. Spring is officially less than a month away, but we can’t even fathom packing away our oversized knits, floppy beanies, and wool socks.

Just because you’re layering doesn’t mean that you have to look like a total slob. There are tips and tricks to staying bundled, but still maintaining shape and personal style. I love a good crew neck sweatshirt (preferably adorned with a cheeky saying) and then add on a statement necklace and leather leggings—voila, your sweats are now styled.

Bitch in the City Emily has a natural, classic look with preppy undertones. Her winter staples include oversized J. Crew sweaters in a rainbow of hues, cozy knit accessories such as blanket scarves and pom-pom hats, and her beloved duck boots.

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a pair of Bean Boots this season and haven’t looked back. They keep your tootsies dry while navigating over gross puddles of graying snow, go with everything, and have a lifetime guarantee. I have a friend that turns in his Bean Boots every few seasons for a fresh pair, which L.L. Bean happily obliges.

Let’s talk about this tote. Barrington Gifts sent us monogrammed totes from its St. Anne collection, which are available in a wide variety of adorable prints and shades. Emily went with an iconic and seasonally appropriate black plaid print, customized with her soon-to-be new initials.

This tote holds everything, which is essential for a girl on the go, especially during the colder months when we are weighed down with mittens, earmuffs, and reading materials for long commutes during inclement weather. The camel leather binding is long-lasting and will never go out of style.
