The Lust List: Structured Satchels

It’s about time for an upgrade to my neutral handbag. I have large “it” bags in the necessary shades: black, white, pink, and red. But, I inevitably just tote my Louis Vuitton speedy around as it’s reliable and durable—unlike the white Yves St. Laurent Muse I clean every time I bring it anywhere (but it has thus survived five years of ownership).

But I’d really like a logo-free luxury bag in a brown or neutral shade to add to the mix.

Both Becca and I have been lusting over the Mulberry Alexa, named for fashionista Alexa Chung, since it first became a thing a few years ago. A schoolboy style satchel is just so classic and tomboyish in a good way.

However, nowadays, I’m thinking I need a bit more structure: in my life, and in my handbag. Thus, I’ve been going to 7 a.m. workout classes at Vida and I think I’ll pick up a Pashli, too. A 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli, that is.

A top-handled structured satchel will be stylish this year and all those that follow. Snagging a satchel in a beige, taupe, or cognac shade will ensure it matches with practically any ensemble and is appropriate for any function year-round.

Here are some beauties I spotted on the interwebs. Take a looksy, and try to control yourself.

Phillip Lim Pashli, Taupe or Rust, $895.

Tory Burch Robinson Satchel, $550.

Kate Spade, Bow Terrace Bradshaw, $498 in black at Kate Spadebrown $324 at Zappos.

Coach Madison Sadie Flap Satchel, $498, Bloomingdales.

Loeffer Randall Ryder Bag, $495.

Cambridge Satchel Company, $195. Asos.
