The Lust List: Pink Rocks Recap & Christian Siriano Spring 2012

We Bitches go to a lot of events. But, let me just say, Pink Rocks the Runway was spectacular and one of a kind. The high-end event raised $30,000 for the Capital Breast Care Center, in addition to promoting awareness of men and women suffering from breast cancer under the age of 40.

It’s everything you’d want out of an evening—great cocktails and cuisine, not one, but two, spectacular runway shows, live rock music, attractive professional athletes (the “Pink Tie Guys”), stocked swag bags, plenty of photogs, and a fabulously fun after party.

Held at the enormous, awe-inspiring Ronald Reagan International Trade Center, the event began with a VIP cocktail hour, inclusive of open bar and Mediterranean appetizers. Guest designer Christian Siriano was on hand selling his Spring 2012 at very discounted prices. (Distracted by the champagne, the Bitches didn’t go shopping, and, after seeing the runway show, were devastated.)

Guests headed downstairs while the band set up for a two-part runway show. The first component featured 14 local breast cancer survivors wearing pink frocks made by Washington designers. It was heart wrenching seeing these brave, beautiful young women strut their stuff after having been through so much.

The ladies looks were punctuated by the pink tie guys—local professional athletes and newscasters, including a too-cute-for-words Redskins safety and DC United defensemen {Insert single girl swoon here}. Above it all, Charm City Devils, iTunes rock band of the year, played—and they certainly rocked the runway.

The second show featured professional models donning Christian Siriano’s Spring 2012 collection. The designer’s spring looks featured a lot of textured neutral dresses, crisp white tailored pieces, and pops of coral and chartreuse. There were lots of cocktail dresses and maxi skirts for resort wear.

Personally, I was not a fan of a lot of the textured beige numbers—a lot of the pieces made the models look like pale poodles or washed out sea urchins. However, there were lots of looks I loved—particularly the coral and chartreuse, despite these colors being extremely difficult for most skin tones to wear.

Here’s what I’m lusting after from Christian’s spring line.

A little coral number that’s easy for a cocktail party.

A neutral dress with just the perfect amount of texture (on the sleeves) that’s perfect for work-to-cocktail-party weekdays.

Beautiful chic resort wear. (Though the jacket is too much).

I honestly have no idea where you’d wear this but I’d be happy to try.
