The Lust List: Navy & Gold

Fall colors, fashions and experiences are just more rich, decadent, and comforting. There are heartier foods like soups, squashes and stuffing and more decadent beverages like pumpkin lattes.

As far as fall fashion, it’s the rich colors, the texture, the blazers, the boots, the layering. The color transition from whites, neons and pastels to hunter green, oxblood, navy and deep purples. The change in texture from cotton and linen to corduroy, wool, jean, and leather.

One such rich, delectable fall trend I’ve noticed is a preponderance of navy and gold clothing, done up in ¬†intricate lace, rich brocade, and fuzzy tweed.

Navy is such a classic, lovely color, a favorite of both my mother and I. And you can’t go wrong with gold for accessories, shoes, trim, and attire. So, why not pick up a dress with gold brocade or a gold tweed mini?

Designers Alice & Olivia and Shoshanna are spearheading this trend. My opinion of Alice + Olivia ebbs and flows–sometimes the designs are trampy, vampy and a bit too much. However, right now Alice + Olivia is killing it. This is thanks in large part to the shining star at the helm of the fashion line, designer Stacey Bendet, who I follow on Instagram and adore more every day.

We’re seeing lots of navy lace and tweed–with gold threading–from Shoshanna, a staple for cocktail frocks and party pieces. Most of these pieces are in stock right now at our favorite boutique, Urban Chic. Those that aren’t can be found on Shop Bop and Alice + Olivia online.
