The Lust List: Matching Separates

While it it is still cold in Chicago, I am full-on ready for spring and totally feeling flowy matching separates paired with fun slip on sandals. This trend crept into our wardrobes in 2016 and is still holding strong in 2017. I may not be the biggest proponent of trends but this is one I have fully embraced.

I spotted this ensemble on a sales associate at Anthropologie, while I was browsing the store. I inquired as to where she had gotten it, and she simply turned to the rack next to her and said, “here.” It was fate.

This separates outfit has a variety of details I love: the enamel buttons, the wispy sleeves, and the tie waist at the waist. The culottes are easy and incredibly comfortable. I feel like this outfit is the separates version of what Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman when she went to the polo match—you see it, right?

The classic black and white polka dot pattern makes this outfit easy to mix and match with accessories. I decided to complete the look with my trusty white Rebecca Minkoff bag, simple black sandals, and red tassel earrings from Akira.

The pop of color added a retro touch to the outfit, and adds an eye-catching element to the look. To cap off the outfit, I wore these simple (and inexpensive) sunglasses from H&M.

The reason why I was drawn to this separates outfit is because of the infinite possibilities of mixing and matching with different tops and bottoms. Since 99 percent of my wardrobe is black and white, nearly everything will go with these pieces.

If this feels too matchy-matchy, then consider pairing this top with these bottoms. Real talk: this is almost what I bought instead of this outfit.

Now if only Chicago weather would catch up to what our wardrobe has in mind, we will be great. I am totally ready to wear this ensemble sipping summer cocktails on a rooftop in the sun; soon enough, Bitches!
