The Lust List: Comfy & Cheeky

For the most part, I always err on the side that being over-dressed is better than being under-dressed. Washington is such a buttoned up, professional city, and its cocktail parties and galas tend to skew more conservative and traditional than not.

Moreover, I consider being well dressed a form of politeness, and I certainly would never want to offend someone showing up in the wrong style of attire.

Often times, I overdress just for the hell of it, because I think wearing pink lipstick, sequin blouses, and plenty of baubles in the middle of the day is fun. Because I can, and to use an over-used phrase, because you only live once. #YOLO, sequins at noon, Bitches.

However, as the weather gets chillier, and I get busier and ever more exhausted, I’ve been lusting after comfy, cozy sweatshirts. In the winter, I practically live in cozy grey knits with leggings and riding boots by day. By night, I’m in a sweater dress, tights, and booties. Easy, peasy. No need to be stressed about looking stylish.

Lately, graphic sweatshirts have come in to play as a force de riguer in the fashion world. My favorite fashion blogger, Blair of Atlantic Pacific, rocked the Zoe Karssen Creme de la Creme sweatshirt and now everyone is rockin’ it.

Meawhile, adorable Joy Cho of Oh Joy! sports the comfy and friendly Hello! sweaters and our blogger pal Meg Biram has an entire line of Manifesto tees and sweaters.

So, there is a slew of adorable, graphic-print sweatshirts with cheeky catchphrases I’m lusting after as of late. As everyone is a Francophile nowadays, many of them are inspired by the Parisians and I’m just fine with that.

Unlike the vanitees of our high school days, these sweatshirts add just the right amount of sass without being vain or overdone.

So, next time you’re in a hurry, throw on your favorite denim, put your hair in a top knot and toss on one of these cute graphic print sweatshirts. You’re the creme de la creme, baby.
