The Lust List: Blanket Scarves and Oversized Sweaters

Well, that damn groundhog has us bundling up for another six weeks, so we might as well look cute while we’re at it. The East coast has been experiencing some severe winter weather which makes it tempting not to leave home at all, but when we do we’re piling on the layers.

Cole Haan OTK block heel boots | Kate Spade satchel, similar | Anthropologie draped sweater, similar here, here and here | Felted wool fedora | Zara stripe scarf

I’ve been living in scarves that pass as blankets and my over-the-knee boots, as they are the warmest shoes I own. Plus, these sexy babies also transition nicely from day to night.

When appropriate we’ve been layering various leggings—these faux leather gunmetal Spanx leggings are a favorite of mine—with oversized sweaters, that tow the line between a dress and a tunic. This lavender draped number from Anthropologie is one of the softest sweaters in my closet. It’s impossible not to feel cozy in it. I also love the subtle lavender hue, which brightens up my standard black, white, and neutral winter wardrobe.

I’ve also been relying on hats to keep me warm and chic. On rainy or cold days, I love a classic, wool floppy hat with a wide brim. Conveniently, it also helps conceal a bad hair day or extend the life of a blowout. It adds a 70s vibe, particularly when pulled together with thigh-high boots. Just be weary not to wear your fedora on a windy day. Chasing a hat down the street in OTK boots is not a cute look (trust me, I’ve done it).
