Summer’s unofficial grand finale just passed, but we’re not yet ready for our annual closet overhauls. It’s not quite sweater weather here in the Big Apple, so all the Bitches are chiming in with our favorite transitional prints and products to help your wardrobe go from scorching to shivering.
I absolutely love mixing prints. I still had a few preppy pieces hanging in my closet that hadn’t had their fair share of holiday weekend wear, so I made it my mission to figure out how I could transition these pieces seamlessly into the fall season— just before that cool breeze creeps in.
How fun is this little patriotic set from J.Crew?! The boatneck blouse is almost reminiscent of wearing your boyfriends favorite button down backwards adding an element of flair to an otherwise classic piece. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. Paired with paper bag bottoms— one of the hottest trends for fall— this look is definitely not for the style shy. For a more tame approach to transitional fashion, it’s always easy to take your favorite summertime printed top or bottom and wear a dark denim jean or chambray top.
Just before your big closet switch from summer to winter can be a super intimidating time. Is summer scaries a thing? Combining your coveted summer trends with classic staple items and luxe (looking) accessories is key. We’ve all been there. We get up after Labor Day weekend, look through our row of white pants, and want to scream.
Check out some of our favorite fashion and beauty items for September that will prepare your wardrobe for the coming cool weather without letting go of the fun and flirty elements we love from summertime dressing.
Chelsea loves to embrace the 70’s retro vibe when it comes to her look and fall fashion only fuels her love for deep hues, floral prints, and textured fabrics. To transition from summer to fall, you will find Chelsea clad in this 7 For All Mankind floral print denim a-line skirt paired with a white top from the Bitches summer whites lust list. Once temperatures drop, all you will need is a cozy sweater.
Giselle is also really looking forward to incorporating dark florals into her wardrobe. The navy background on this Kaia slip dress (yes, they’re still trending) is a neutral enough that it allows for color play in the rest of the look. Not only is the print transitional, but whole dress is. Giselle would wear it with a jean jacket and millennial pink sneakers for day and switch to a leather jacket and silver heels at night.
We clearly can’t get enough of florals. HBIC Cori Sue is loving frocks with vintage vibes to transition from summer to fall. She’ll swap out her handbag and shoes, from sandals to booties and maybe add a floppy hat. She’s loving these Cooper & Ella, Club Monaco, and Renamed frocks on Shopbop. D.C. Bitch Tess is also obsessing over the uber feminine with this adorable dress. Tuckernuck knows how to make a flattering silhouette to fit any body type. This dress is perfect to pair with navy and bright pink lipstick.

NYC Associate Bitch Britteny plans to wear this dress to brunch, happy hour, and beyond. Even a little camo can go a long way; Annie loves this practically neutral print for transitional times. This Rebecca Minkoff mini skirt can be paired with summer slides or boots when the weather changes.
Fashion items this month need to transition perfectly from air conditioned restaurants to the breezy evenings. DC Editor Steph is living in lightweight flirty sweaters, but Ann Louis plans to grow her collection of jumpsuits this fall. This Evening Primrose Jumpsuit is reminiscent of warmer days, but will transition nicely into those cooler fall nights.
As soon as August ends, Britteny happily packs away her sandals and breaks out her booties. These perforated ankle booties by Nine West will transition effortlessly from summer to fall. If you still want to keep that perfect pedicure on display, mules are perfect. These suede mustard Mandy mules not only transition from late summer to fall, but also from the office to happy hour for the Bitch on the go.
Speaking of on the go, D.C Social Bitch Annie is obsessed with anything that helps her roll out of bed and hop straight to brunch. She loves to throw on a cute baseball cap, like this funky floral one from Rag & Bone, to hide her messy tresses.

Bitch Tess is dying to get her hands on it just in time for the fall season. This is perfect to pair with fun prints and summery or fall color palettes. A camel-colored crossbody is the perfect bag to grab and go. This size of this Accordion Crossbody from Shinola just right for everyday use but not too big that you can’t bring it out on the weekends too. And the color goes with everything.
The advent of autumn means the air gets dryer leaving hair to become more susceptible to falling flat. To combat that horrific look, Chelsea uses Oribe Thick Dry Finishing Spray while styling her hair to add body and texture to her tresses. Britteny is a dry shampoo addict for this same reason. Any product that saves her time getting ready is the morning is on her must-have list, and this Clairol dry shampoo will do just that.
As our vacation days wind down, it’s harder to get that real beachy look. Annie uses sea spray to get that tousled look even when she’s far from the beach.

It’s perfect for the transition from summer to fall. D.C. Bitch Tess can’t wait to rock this pout and prints for fall.
Make sure to top off your look with a signature scent! Giselle loves a citrus scent in the summer, but as the seasons change, so too does her desire for a fragrance with more depth. Enter Kiehl’s Original Musk. This scent, originally called Love Oil, is a unisex fragrance takes citrus notes and adds more intrigue with bergamot, rose, neroli, and more. She’s just bought her second bottle, and it’s quickly becoming her signature fragrance.
