The owners of Benchmark and Hogsalt have come together to create SteakBar, Old Town’s newest restaurant and late night spot. On April 19th, the restaurant had a preview party for industry folks to come and check out some of the food offerings and the signature cocktail, a fireball old fashioned.
The space is right in the heart of Old Town. Situated in a two story building with huge open spaces, SteakBar has a fun and casual atmosphere. The bar downstairs will definitely be where people go for late night fun, courtesy of jams pumped out by the DJ.
Speaking of DJ, the second story of the restaurants overlooks a large winding staircase leading down a huge wall, where right in the middle is a DJ booth. The second story of the restaurant boast a huge wrap around bar, that is centered in middle of the restaurant; on one side, booths and tables are situated along windows overlooking Wells St. On the other side of the bar is additional seating.
The restaurant gives off a cool modern vibe. Neon lights add some fun flare to the look while thick leather booths and wood lined bars give it a more upscale feel. Servers at the party were handing out passed appetizers, such as steak nachos, and oyster shooters, while bartenders served up a signature cocktail, the fireball old fashioned.
SteakBar will definitely be a great addition to the Old Town neighborhood. A fun concept, a cool atmosphere, and an upscale menu featuring raw bar items and wet-aged steak options, including a $38 rib eye, are sure to be a recipe for success. I definitely look forward to coming here for full dinner service, and hopefully soon, brunch!
