Coffee, toast, whiskey, beer. No, we’re not listing all of our favorite food groups. This is the mantra of new restaurant, Slightly Toasted, located in the West Loop right near Ogilvie Station.
The Slightly Toasted space is warm and inviting, with cozy oriental rugs below reclaimed wood tables. There are six TVs above the bar, which makes this a nice spot to catch a game after work. Across the restaurant, you’ll find more luxurious chair seating around a roaring fireplace.
Slightly Toasted is a bakery by day, and whiskey bar by night, offering everything commuters and busy professionals, like the Bitches, need from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.! The restaurant’s in-house baker makes breads and pastries fresh daily, which are used for their unique take on toast.
From savory to sweet, the restaurant features all types of toasts piled high with fixings. Our favorite sweet toast was the Butterscotch & Nutella, with a housemade bourbon butterscotch and rich Nutella spread. Other sweet options included classic cinnamon with sauteed apples and strawberry jam with basil on a brioche bread—all were to die for!
Among the savory flavors, we loved the steak & egg toast featuring steak tartare, cranberries, and garlic aioli topped with a poached egg. It was so decadent, and the cranberries made the tartare really unique. Other savory toasts include hummus with pickled beets, and avocado with goat cheese and sprouts.
For those hungering for more than just toast, Slightly Toasted offers a full menu with sandwiches, small bites, and salads.
For all you whiskey aficionados, Slightly Toasted has a huge selection of whiskeys alongside quite the extensive beer list. The restaurant also offers wine and cocktails with gin, tequila, and more. There’s truly something for everyone here!
Slightly Toasted is the perfect place to begin your day, or unwind after work over a whiskey cocktail and decadent toast. The restaurant will be releasing happy hour specials soon too, which we can’t wait to try!
