Occasionally, we enjoy taking a break from rowdy bottomless brunches with girlfriends and, instead, keeping it classy with a fancy-pants brunch. One of our favorite parent-approved hidden gems is Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon. We were immediately charmed by Lady Mendl’s unassuming and unmarked Gramercy brownstone location, tucked away in Irving Place.
Menus are nowhere to be found at Lady Mendl’s and are replaced by a five-course tea including copious amounts of finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Although the finger food may seem paltry at first, you will quickly fill up after a few samples.
Standouts included cucumber with mint creme fraiche sandwiches on brioche, butternut squash sandwiches with Borzon cheese and Balsamic glaze, and the roast beef with horse radish. Read our full brunch review here.
Lady Mendl’s interior is a dainty parlor decorated with eclectic china and mismatched patterned chairs. We’re inspired by the floral prints and layered textures and would pair brunch at this quaint eatery with a structured patterned shift, metallic accents, straw wedges, and a breezy wrap.
