Summer is quickly approaching, which means the Chicago bitches can finally take out their summer dresses and show them off at outdoor brunches. It’s finally warm! Waiting for the “L” is bearable, which means it is prime time to explore new neighborhoods. If you haven’t had a reason to trek out to Pilsen, do so now. Brunch at Nightwood is just one of many reasons to stop by this vibrant neighborhood. Plus they have a patio!
As you enter Nightwood’s patio, you will notice the mash-up between rustic chic and modern edge. The wood panels and black chairs, provide a city meets backyard garden vibe. The menu is filled with seasonal items, which now includes a strawberry Dutch pancake and fresh mozzarella salad with artichoke strada. There are very few things more refreshing than a summer cocktail. I recommend their “Muncie Girl,” with gin, amaro, currant shrub, ginger, lemon, and Prima cider. Like the décor, the menu and drink list are modern yet approachable.
Since Nightwood is modern yet approachable, start with leather shoes and purse. For those Chicago summer veterans, we know how humid summers can get which is why a dress that isn’t too tight (i.e. sweat inducing) is a must. Throw on a gold cuff to add a little glam. With sandals, pedis are given. A subtle color, like gray, adds a polish while not detracting from your dress. Let’s be honest, no one likes squinting through brunch, so finish off the look with tortoise framed sunnies; protects your eyes and adds a little pattern.
