Recap: Washingtonian Brunch & Bloodys

Is there a more appropriate event for a Brunching Bitch to attend than the Washingtonian Brunch and Bloody Marys 2015? We think not. Luckily, I scored a ticket from my lovely wedding coordinator who thought this event, held at my future wedding venue, would be the perfect fit for yours truly.

Washingtonian held its annual brunch extravaganza at the Toolbox Studio, a tucked away carriage house in Dupont Circle turned rustic-chic art gallery and Pilates studio. I headed over with my appetite and camera in hand on a welcome spring Saturday morning.

I arrived fashionably late and the atmosphere was positively buzzing, thanks to the many guests and energizing beats from DJ Biks.

I quickly turned to my brunching and Bloody Mary tasting responsibilities and was drawn to the fabulous fare from many of our local favorites including Buffalo and Bergen, DGS, Mason Dixie Biscuit Company, District Doughnuts, La Tomate, RIS, and Rare Sweets, among many others. Besides the delicious eats that included biscuits, donuts, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches, the main event was the Bloody Mary competition.

Our favorite spots turned out creative renditions of the brunch drink favorite, but our top pick had to be the take from Buffalo and Bergen, featuring a bagel with cream cheese and lox garnish.

Before waddling home, I was sure to taste test doughnuts, cinnamon buns, savory biscuits, and over-stuffed crepes. Oh, and granola to give the semblance of being healthy. Lots of carbs this year.

All in all, another great event from Washingtonian.
