When you’re invited to a cocktail party and private dinner at The Gwen Hotel, featuring none other than Campari, you cannot decline.
The hotel had just finished its renovation of its rooms and public spaces. Formally the Conrad Hotel, The Gwen has been completely updated, and has joined the ranks of the great luxury hotels in downtown Chicago. I was privileged to get to see the hotel in a new light, post-renovations.
The dinner was originally to be hosted on the terrace of one of The Gwen’s gorgeous new luxury suites, but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating. Thankfully, though, we were still able to enjoy the gorgeous suite, and even venture out on the rooftop terrace when the clouds parted and the rain stopped for a few minutes.
The suite itself is dreamy—the perfect spot for hosting a staycation, getting ready before your wedding, or even as a space to get married. The rooftop terrace over looks downtown and offers stunning views of the city above the Magnificent Mile.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a Campari fountain that was flowing with the ready-made cocktail. We grabbed our glasses and filled up! It was a great entrance, and a memorable way to serve up the drink of the evening.
Dinner was held downstairs in the main lobby area in a large private room. The room was decorated beautifully, with gorgeous floral displays, an intimate candlelit ambience, giving a complete Midsummer Night’s Dream feel to the space.
As soon as we sat down, we were greeted with cocktails featuring Campari. As the meal progressed, we were served a decadent menu, including an endive salad with Manchego, a roasted leg of lamb, and a yummy chocolate tart for dessert.
The courses were each paired with wine accompaniments that were introduced by The Gwen’s head hotel manager, who was extremely knowledgable about the wines, and equally charming.
The dinner was simply fantastic; it was wonderful to meet other influencers in town and get familiar with the new concept and design of the gorgeous hotel.
I have always been a fan of the hotel; I am partial to the hotel’s gorgeous fifth floor lobby and bar. I look forward to enjoying more time at The Gwen. If you are thinking about getting married in the city any time soon, definitely consider one of their suites to stay in!
