Recap: Pier A Masquerade Ball
by Becca
It’s always been on my bucket list to ring in the New Year in New York City. I’m not talking about standing in Times Square for 11 hours shivering in the cold (the horror). I’m talking about a fabulous, swanky, glittery celebration overlooking New York’s iconic landmarks.

This year, the Bitches were invited to celebrate the arrival of 2017 at Pier A’s Harbor House. The waterfront event space hosted downtown’s largest ever Masquerade Ball, and it was quite the soiree—better than expectations.

All 28,000 square feet and multiple levels were transformed into a white-and-gold wonderland of extravagance. The bars on each level served up cocktails and endless champagne. There was an impeccably stocked raw bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, and cheese and crudite stations for snacking.

We kept hopping from floor to floor to see the latest entertainment. On the first level, ‘80s and ‘90s tunes were beating. On the second, there was an incredible DJ, who took our many Prince and George Michael requests to heart. On the third floor, a huge dance floor was serenaded by the George Gee Orchestra.

We danced the night away in our ballgowns and masks, and only stopped to toast the New Year at midnight from Pier A’s big balcony, overlooking the Statue of Liberty and her surrounding fireworks. Cheers to the New Year, Bitches! May it be a happy and healthy one.
