After braving horrendous DC traffic, I finally arrived at the Neiman Marcus Mazza Gallerie for the Joy of Motion fall fashion event. I walked into the chic, well lit store to thumping top 40’s tunes radiating around me. I ascended the escalator as if I was Cher in a Clueless inspired fashion montage and was greeted by two fashionable, smiling women.
The mid-level section of the store was reserved for fashion show attendees who had purchased a ticket for $50, where they were treated to champagne, hors d’oeuvres, a dance performance, and a fashion show complete with Neiman Marcus’s stunning selection of designer gowns. While you can’t beat a fashion show paired with champagne, the best part of the event was that the proceeds benefited Joy of Motion, a nonprofit community dance center based in Northeast Washington.
The tile foyer and walk way that greets patrons after they step off the escalator acted as a makeshift stage for the Joy of Motion dance performance. Guests were able to gather around and admire the performance while sipping champagne and indulging in gourmet hors d’oeuvres. After the performance concluded guests took their seats that lined the catwalk, and for the next half an hour were transported to New York Fashion Week.
The event was incredibly well planned and organized, the clothes were gorgeous, and the proceeds supported a most worthy cause. What more could a Bitch want from a party?
