The best way to start your Saturday? Getting pampered at the spa, of course. An even better way to start your Saturday? Pampering along with a fabulous brunch.

That’s exactly how Cori Sue and I started our weekend. Saturday morning, I was at Nival Salon & Spa in Chevy Chase as soon as they opened their doors. First up, a relaxing blowout (let’s not forget the shampoo-slash-head-massage that comes prior) by my favorite stylist, Consuella Lopez.

After that, a manicure to die for—in my favorite summer shade, OPI’s Koala Punch. Gorg. As soon as I was done being pampered from head to toe, Cori Sue had arrived, along with a gaggle of women ready for their own pampering.

We were hosting “Blowouts, Brunch & Bubbly,” our very first beauty brunch and, what turned out to be a super glamorous afternoon with more than 50 new girlfriends.

Ladies arrived all morning and afternoon and were whisked away to their choice of spa service. A fabulous blowout? Sure. Spa manicure? No problem. How about a face mask? Yup. Better yet, a massage? Yes, please.

The lines for services were long, but our beauty babes were happy chatting and clinking their bellini and mimosa glasses. We kept the champers flowing all day long. Pop, fizz, clink, ladies.

In addition, glorious brunch treats were served up from the bakery Something Sweet, including fruit, fruit tartlets, coffee cake, “BWB” turquoise monogrammed cupcakes (cute!) and more.

We absolutely love Nival Salon & Spa (it’s the Bitches beauty parlor of choice), and we’ve been through quite a lot with them. They’ve rescued Cori Sue when she gave herself bangs. They’ve done our hair for both our Urban Chic look book and our Sweet Lemon Magazine photo shoot.

  1. I hope you have another one of these events very soon. I am a writer with Ask Miss A and I would love to cover. Do you have any charitable ties to the types of events that you host? I love your blog and look forward to trying out a lot of the spots you’ve frequented in the DC area.
