The Lust List: MM.LaFleur CHI

From work to play, from afternoon brunch to evening cocktails, every Bitch loves having transitional pieces in her closet. More and more brands are becoming conscious of the fact that people want versatility in the wear-ability in everything they purchase.

MM.LaFleur is exactly that kind of clothing brand. Instead of your same old pants suits, at MM.LaFleur you will find tailored, classy, and trendy pieces in every category of workwear: from pants to skirts, to jackets and tops.

The Bitches in every city are going to show you how to style all these different pieces, from head to toe—so take notes!

From the office to happy hour, I love finding clothes that can transition effortless from day to night, without looking like I’m trying too hard. Effortlessly chic is always my go-to look when it comes to my makeup, my hair, my manicure nails, and my clothes.

If you’ve ever been on a quest to find the perfect little black dress, you’ll agree that it’s hard to do. With so many cuts, materials, and options, it’s hard to find one that is just right for every season. The saving grace for LBD’s is that black will never go out of style, and neither will any frocks that are well-tailored and well-made.

Thankfully, the Akiko 2.0 from MM.LaFleur is right up my alley with its conservative neckline, off-centered pleats, and a tailored fit. I can dress it up or down with ease; and the quality of the material is top-notch—did I finally strike gold with a LBD?

Accessories can make or break an outfit, especially when it comes to statement pieces. To help welcome spring, I decided to brighten up my LBD with some bright statement jewelry from Anthropologie and Kendra Scott. Much to my delight, the two pieces matched well together and helped to glam up my simple outfit. Less is more, remember that Bitches.

When it comes to versatility and wearability, MM.LaFleur has it all. With its well-crafted and tailored outfits and ensembles, MM.LaFleur is the kind of brand that can work in all environments, without trying too hard.

I consider myself fortunate because the last three years or so I have held positions and jobs with companies that allow me the flexibility of dressing casual to work.  I have also had the freedom to work from home— needless to say, sometimes in my pajamas. Don’t get me wrong; cold Chicago winters make it really nice to roll out of bed and head into the office wearing Ugg boots, leggings, and a comfy sweater. To be completely honest though, I really do enjoy dressing up, and miss the days of working at a non-profit where business attire was acceptable.

Unfortunately for me, I donated lots of beautiful Ann Taylor suits and J. Crew blouses years ago when I realized I wasn’t wearing them as often.  Flash forward to present day, and I am taking several business meetings a week and find that my wardrobe no longer provides for work-day essentials.

Enter MM.La Fleur. Their motto? “Take the work out of dressing for work,” and that is exactly what a working lady like myself needs. It can be exhausting trying to find ways to dress up a staple black pencil skirt, and thankfully their Bento Box puts me at ease. MM La Fleur’s collection of simple yet classic, wearable items is lustworthy. Each item is perfect for the workday—and not to mention comfortable! Better yet, these pieces transition seamlessly into the evening.

Take this rocking “jardigan,” an item that is structurally that of a jacket, yet completely feels like a cardigan. The design is impeccable, you feel as if you are wearing a sweater, because you are. Yet to the unseen eye it is a beautiful blazer with a silhouette to be envied, with elegant drop-stitch detailing down the back. Plus, it has removable shoulder pads to transform the look from a high fashion jacket, to a Jackie Onassis—classic piece.

On this particular day, I paired it with a fantastic new jumpsuit I purchased recently.  The chic cut of the jardigan complimented the loose, flowy jumpsuit to balance the look as a whole. I added sunnies and a small black shoulder bag to complete the look. I felt like a rockstar walking into my lunch meeting, and I was comfortable enough to wear it the rest of the day on to dinner and post-work drinks.
