District Distilling x Bitches Who Brunch Cocktails

There are more than a few perks of this gig—we get asked to do fun things like judge Bloody Mary competitions and host brunch events. A recent request? Curate the brunch cocktail menu at District Distilling, a bar, restaurant, and distillery located right by 14th and U Streets. Last month, we worked with the mixologists at District Distilling to curate two cocktails that we feel embody all things Bitches Who Brunch: the Sunnyside Spritz and the Ya Snooze, Ya Booze.

The Sunnyside Spritz is inspired by our love of Aperol Spritzes, and features District Distilling’s Corridor Rye Vodka, Lillet Rosé, Aperol, orgeat, lemon, and egg white. It’s slightly sweet, with a velvety texture.

The Ya Snooze, Ya Booze, combines our need for coffee and brunch at the same time. This cold brew coffee cocktail mixes the C&O Porter whiskey with semi sweet chocolate flavors, finished with a maple foam for a bit of creaminess.

The cocktails were performing so well that the team over at District Distilling asked us to concoct a few seasonal libations to add to the cocktail menu for the brunching Bitches of Washington to enjoy. I thought this would be a fine way to spend a Friday, so I asked the original HBIC, my mom, to come along with some of the gals.

The result? Two more additions to the Bitch-approved menu: the Rise & Imbibe and the Hello Sunshine. The Rise & Imbibe features the Corridor Vodka, Tempus Fugit Crème de Noyaux, Shrub District lime shrub, and mint leaves.

Meanwhile, the Hello Sunshine is a wintry, bubbly concoction made with District Distilling’s Buzzard Point Rum, L’Ambrusco, spiced syrup, cranberries, soda water, and bubbly. Served in a wine glass, this wintry, bubbly confection is a great alternative to bellinis and mimosas.
