The Bitches were one of the first invited in to taste Broken Coconut, a new fast-casual concept, in NoHo’s fitness alley aside the likes of Rumble and SoulCycle. This ‘beach to bowl’ restaurant offers vibrant, nutritious and delicious food in a modern bohemian atmosphere. Broken Coconut was conceptualized by restaurateurs Scott Sartiano, Founder of Butter Group, Cobi Levy, behind projects such as Little Prince, Black Seed Bagels and Babu Ji, and Nightlife and Marketing Veteran William Makris.
“A focus on health and wellness has played a huge part of my life the past few years, and I’m excited to embark into a new realm of hospitality that mirrors my current interests.” said Co-Founder, Scott Sartiano. “With Broken Coconut, we will utilize our hospitality experiences to create a destination for food conscious urban bohemians – featuring an eye-catching environment, comfortable seating and guilt-free food options. Eating better doesn’t mean dieting nor does require sacrificing flavor.”
The space was designed for Bitches like us, creating an inviting urban beach escape from the bustling streets of Manhattan. At the focal point was an adorable pink neon sign that read “Eat Pretty”. We opted for the corner booth next to it and a cozy bohemian swing.
We had to try the restaurant’s highlight, Broken Coconut’s signature yogurt – a dairy free, probiotic, protein-rich product made in house, with a coconut base– and oh my gosh is it mouthwatering. The full AM menu, created in collaboration with certified nutritionist Molly Rieger, offered us an overwhelming amount of healthy morning bites like blended bowls, overnight oats, and smoothies. And guess what, all of the restaurant’s fresh whole vegetable, fruit, and grain ingredients are delivered daily.
We went particularly crazy with the refresher juices and assorted yogurts. Indulging in the Midnight Lemonade, Red Heat, and Ocean Mist, we were quick to identify the activated charcoal and aloe infused lemonade as our favorite. All of the juices were coconut based with the Red Heat giving us a kick of thai chili and the Ocean Mist keeping us gorgeous with e3 live and collagen.
While waiting to instantly transform into Victoria’s Secret models, we scooped up a few bites of the coconut yogurt. I am not kidding when I say this is the best thing I have ever tasted. Although I admittedly have a super sweet tooth, I was shocked at how deliciously sweet this non-dessert item was. The Mr. Pink was beautifully magenta topped with fresh dragon fruit balls, toasted coconut flakes, and vanilla chia– YUM! For the boys there was a less pink, but equally as scrumptious version, the Pipeline. My beau gobbled up the to-go container I brought home of blueberry flavored coconut yogurt topped with banana slices and vanilla chia. Upon first bite, he exclaimed “When are you taking me to Broken Coconut?!”.
Another tasty winner was Broken Coconut’s dusted avocado toast. We had to order it given the major West Coast Vibes we were getting from this restaurant. Topped with smoked almonds and togarashi black salt, the Sullivan Street seven grain bread gave the perfect amount of texture and crunch.
Bringing island beach fare to Manhattan, Broken Coconut offers delicious bowls for boho souls.
The Bitches say: Five Flutes. Broken Coconut honestly deserves an A plus extra credit. The fresh fruit flavors are robust and combined expertly with various nuts and chia. The restaurant and nightlife gurus behind Broken Coconut are serving up a genius beach to bowl concept in the most Insta-worthy space to hit Noho in– well– forever.
