I heard this rumor about a year ago… and my dreams have come true, it’s true! Urban Daddy reports that Acqua al 2, my favorite restaurant in Florence, Italy, opens its second U.S. location this Saturday in Eastern Market. Their other location is in San Diego, C.A., and I go every time I visit my family out west.
This Tuscan gem opened in 1978 steps away from the Piazza della Signoria in Florence. Raved about in nearly every travel guide, it’s a favorite for locals, world travelers, celebs, study abroad students—everyone. They are known for their amazing samplings as well as their steaks. The samplings allow you to try five different choices—there are salad, pasta, cheese, and dessert samplings. I’ll let you check out the menu for more details. They do traditional, house-made Tuscan cuisine—and they do it well. Best Italian I’ve had in my life.
Their famous steaks are the Filetto al Mirtilio—hand-carved fillet mignon topped with blueberry sauce, and the Filetto al Aceto Balsamico, fillet mignon topped with a balsamic vinegar glaze. I am considering forgoing my vegetarian diet to re-taste the glorious blueberry fillet. (Moral dilemma).
