Yeah .. we’re a little late this Monday. I just got off a flight from Houston, and Cori Sue is still in the air somewhere headed towards D.C. from Dallas (for vastly different reasons, we both ended up in Texas this past weekend). And even though I’m completely beat from three days of musical-festivaling, I still have a packed calendar this week (why, God?). Here we go!
Everyone’s favorite Twitter personality (and man-about-town), Cheeky Geeky ahem Mark Drapeau of Microsoft, is hosting a fashion show with Bloomingdale’s in Bethesda, featuring the region’s biggest techies waltzing down the runway. As he said, “they’re trading their cubicles for the catwalk.” And it’s for a good cause, the Heart of America Foundation. Definitely get your catwalk seating locked down early for this one. Get tickets here.
Ladies, it’s spaaahh week, and that simple fact is music to my ears. Book your appointments for full-service treatments this week (the prices drop down to just $50), including facials, massages, manis, pedis, waxing and more. More than 75 spas in the D.C. area are participating all this week. Hurrah! Book your pampering here.
This is a hot event … Rosslyn’s new Artiscape (which, I swear, just opened last weekend and it’s already the next new place for trendy events) is hosting Fashion Fights Poverty, D.C.’s annual showcase of sustainable fashion and design. This year’s theme is RAW, and designers – from Nomi Ansari to Chez Kevito – will show their collections. It should be a totally non-traditional event, and it all benefits local youth programs and micro finance in developing countries. P.S. The after party will be at Fly Lounge. Get tickets here.
