Ashok Bajaj of Bibiana Osteria Enoteca hosts a four-course dinner showcasing the pasta dishes from author Domenica Marchetti’s new cookbook, The Glorious Pasta of Italy, created by Executive Chef Nicholas Stefanelli. Tickets to the four-course dinner are$90 per person and include wines and a copy of The Glorious Pasta of Italy, published by Chronicle Books. Seating is limited to the first 40 guests. 6:30 p.m.


Design for A Cure takes place at K Street Lounge. The event features a fashion show with designs from Nicole Miller and an open bar and benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Tickets are $50. 6:30 p.m., fashion show begins at 8 p.m., 1301 K Street N.W., Washington D.C.

The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History hosts The Gulf and Its Seafood, an educational panel on the Gulf region one year after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, followed by a wine and seafood reception. The panel includes National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Under Secretary of Commerce Jane Lubchenco, Environmental activist and actor Ted Danson, a founding board member of Oceana, Mike Voisin of Motivatit Seafood, Inc. and chairman of the Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition, Patrick Riley of Western Seafood Company, ocean scientists, educators, and health professionals discussing the state of the fisheries and marine ecosystem in the Gulf and the impact of the spill on seafood. The following reception includes wine from more than 25 vineyards and cuisine from the top DC area chefs including • Mike Isabella of Graffiato and Top Chef fame, Kyle Bailey of Birch & Barley and ChurchKey, Carla Hall of Alchemy by Carla Hall and Top Chef fame, and Rob Weland of Poste Moderne Brasserie. EatBar hosts its third annual Beach Blanket Bash. The party features 25 wines, beach music, surfer flicks and a menu of beach-friendly cuisine like fish tacos, half smokes, boardwalk fries, saltwater taffy, and funnel cakes.
