We had such fun at Saturday’s Electric Summer Brunch! Thank you for coming out, wearing your best neon duds, and partying like brunch rock stars. Hopefully you love “The Devil Wears Prada” as much as I do. Being in the magazine biz, I ate it up. The book, that is. The movie was fab, too. It’s National Geographic’s 125th Birthday! The organization is partnering with Brightest Young Things to celebrate the milestone in style, with an enormous after hours that will encompass the entire Nat Geo campus. Featuring DJs, temporary tattoos, food trucks, libations, photo galleries, and more. No dress code, but they are recommending pirate gear, indiana jones, safari hats or animal costumes. I’ll be at the third annual Eat Drink Go LOCAL, the premier local food and wine event in Southern Maryland. Join me and browse local produce from regional farmers and enjoy live music, while learning which local wines to pair with local fare. Entry is free; attendees can shop the market and enjoy chef cooking demonstrations throughout the day. For $25, attendees can purchase a tastings pass and receive a stemless sampling glass and samples of Maryland Wine from dozens of attending wineries.
It’s back, baby! Brunch comedy with LYGO DC, that is. Formerly Laugh Your Grits Off, LYGO DC will go back to its roots with “Wake & Bacon,” a weekly Saturday brunch and comedy show beginning at 3 p.m. this Saturday at Shaw’s Tavern, 520 Florida Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.
That night, head to Tabaq for the first of the Rooftop Summer Series. Friends will gather for adult beverages, good conversation, and down-tempo nu-disco music to generate summery vibes. It’s a benefit event for Rappahannock Pops Orchestra with a large portion of ticket sales going directly to the Pops to help their mission of music and music education for the region.
