I can’t believe it’s February (but I say that every month, don’t I?). D.C. is kicking off the second month of 2011 with a packed week: Crystal Couture, Meat Week, Chinese New Year … there’s lots to do!

Monday

Last year, Meat Week was cut short because of the snow. But this year, snow be damned. We will eat our way through D.C.’s second annual celebration of barbecue. Tonight, the finger-lickin’ begins at American Ice Company at 7 p.m. Tomorrow and Wednesday are RSVP-only events. Make sure you visit each barbecue haunt this week and vote for the best sauce, best atmosphere, and more. Get all the details here.

Tuesday

What could make a better marriage than champagne and orange juice? How about champagne and sugar. This Tuesday evening more than 40 local restaurants will join together at the downtown Ritz-Carlton for a Sugar & Champagne Affair, benefiting the Washington Humane Society. The VIP Chef’s Tasting Room is sold out, but you and your pup can still get tickets to the main event by clicking here. If you can’t make it to the evening event, make sure you stop by the food trucks parked on M and 21st Streets from 4 to 8 p.m. that night. They’re donating 50% of their proceeds to the Humane Society, too.

Wednesday

It’s Crystal Couture this week! From 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, the runway schedule is packed with fashion from local boutiques. It’s worth the quick Metro ride out to Virginia; this is a really fun event to do with a group of girlfriends: cash bar, hair and makeup makeovers, DJs, fashion shows, boutiques selling clothes, etc. It’s part art exhibit, part fashion show, part nightclub, part shopping heaven. What could get better than that? Oh, The Scene Bisnow is hosting the final bash Saturday night. It’s free and open to the public every night. 1750 Crystal Drive, Crystal City.

Thursday

Did someone say free breakfast? Yup. The Brown Bag downtown is celebrating its grand opening this week by giving away pastries, muffins and Swing’s coffee from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday morning. 1625 Eye Street NW.

Friday

We heard The Donovan House hotel at Thomas Circle transformed its rooftop into a swanky Winter Ice Bar. Then we heard they didn’t have the necessary permits last weekend, and the Ice Bar didn’t happen. Now we hear they’re giving it another shot this weekend, Friday and Saturday evenings, from 5 to 10 p.m. We hope it works out! After all, who doesn’t love the idea of outdoor fire pits, spiced cocoa, and mulled wine all served from a hand-carved ice bar while overlooking D.C.? 1155 14th Street N.W.

Saturday

Why does cheese always have to be paired with wine? Answer: It doesn’t. At the Passenger’s Columbia Room this Saturday, mixologist and self-described “booze nerd” Derek Brown will team up with fromager Carolyn Stromberg to pair cheese and cocktails and show how cocktails are sometimes a better choice than wine to pair with artisanal cheeses. You’ll taste through artisanal cheeses and cocktails and learn to create your own pairings. The class is $80, and you’ll get three cocktails and a selection of artisanal cheeses. Get tickets here.

Sunday

Where are you watching the Super Bowl? We hear Againn, Blue Banana Sports & Rock Bar, and Hudson Restaurant & Lounge are all hosting parties. Think awesome drink specials, DJs at halftime, contests, and super cheap food. Pair that party with the football game of the year, and Monday’s bound to suck.
