Happy Labor Day, Bitches! We hardly have time to dwell on the sad fact that summer has officially ended now that our social calendars are filled to the brim with events and parties for Fashion Week. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram as we document the fun fêtes and upcoming styles.
If you’re anything like us, our day off work was spent on planes, trains, and automobiles coming home from long weekend adventures. However, if you luckily missed the Labor Day traffic, head over to Williamsburg for Maison Premiere’s epic Labor Day Party, which begins at noon. The shindig includes oysters, chilled seafood, cocktails, chef specials, and live music at the hip eatery. 298 Bedford Ave., Brooklyn
I’m currently planning for an upcoming trip to Italy and prepping my body for a sudden influx of pizza, pasta, and Chianti. Part of this arduous regiment includes frequent trips to Eataly in Flatiron. Thus, I’m in luck that Eataly celebrates its fourth anniversary today with a rare market sale of its imported, gourmet ingredients, birthday cake, special dishes, and a birthday party at Birreria. More information here. 200 Fifth Ave., New York, NY
We love both fitness and fashion so we’re excited to attend an event that melds the two with Athleta’s Crush of Adrenaline. This sporty event promises a fashion week performance “in a way you’ve never seen before.” We’re intrigued. The event is open to the public, RSVP here.
The tents are officially open at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! We can’t wait to see the style forecasting coming from designers such as Carolina Herrera, Diane von Furstenberg, Kate Spade, Prabal Gurung, and more. Check out a complete schedule here. If you can’t make it out to the shows, we love the live streams and Pinterest runway recaps.
For a unique way to kick off NYFW, check out The Emerging Trends Fashion Show presented by ShopEmergingTrends.com. This highly anticipated event brings global attention to the emerging fashion market with brief shows created by emerging designers from around the world. Limited tickets are left, purchase here. 296 Ninth Ave., New York, NY
Madison Square Eats is back for the fall! This seasonal, semi-annual culinary market brings together some of New York’s most acclaimed chefs and restaurants to one of our favorite parks in the city. Madison Square Eats runs until October 3rd from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. 5th Ave. between 24th and 25th Streets, New York, NY (Madison Square Park)
Are you silly over swine? Read up on our favorite bacon in the city in our NYC National Bacon Day Brunch Guide. Also, head to Pig Island in Red Hook, Brooklyn for a fun-filled, family-friendly festival of pork-related food. 25 NYC chefs will serve up locally sourced hogs to wash down with craft beer and New York state wine to the tunes of live music. You can get to the pig-loving party via free Manhattan ferry rides on the NY Water Taxi, which is also a great way to Instagram the Statue of Liberty.
Some of our favorite brunches are located in Brooklyn (see our recent reviews of Colonie, Buttermilk Channel, and Walter Foods) so we have high hopes for the fifth annual Taste of Williamsburg & Greenpoint event today from 1-5 p.m. at the East River State Park. For $25 (advanced purchase), tickets include four food tastings and two drink tastes; for $45 it will get you double the quantity. Best of all, all proceeds benefit the Northside Town Hall Community and Cultural Center. More information here. The East River State Park, Brooklyn
