This Week in NYC: March 9-15

Happy Monday, NYC! How glorious was it having that extra hour of sunlight today?! If you were in the city yesterday, you are likely feeling incredibly optimistic that warmer weather and happier times are right around the corner. I spent most of my Sunday outside, jumping the gun in less than ideal layers with my face tilted gleefully towards the hint of warm rays. I even bought a bathing suit. Good vibes for a fun week ahead!


The McKittrick Hotel, known as the home for the famous Sleep No More interactive play most days of the year, will be hosting a special performance by the Ghost Quartet tonight. Have a great drink and enjoy the haunted tunes of this 4-person show. More info here. 530 West 27th Street.

Drink up, New York. Taste more than 100 wines and meet the winemakers behind the labels at the third annual NY Drinks NY Grand Tasting at the Astor Center. Tickets can be purchased for $40. 399 Lafayette Street, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.


Tonight, Videology, a Williamsburg bar and screening room, is hosting Freaks & Geeks Free Bingo to pay tribute to the likes of James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel in their one-season wonder. Did we mention that it’s free? And that there’s Bingo? 308 Bedford Ave, 9 p.m.


Ally and I recently had the pleasure of attending a mixology class at Cafe el Presidente, which allowed us to sample the awesome new cocktail menu while learning tips and tricks from new beverage director Cameron Dale. These drinks were no joke, and I highly recommend you spend your Thursday pretending you’re on a beach in Mexico with one of their Pina Colada spin-offs. 30 W 24th St


Iconic jazz room Village Vanguard is turning 80 and has curated a fun series of anniversary events all week long. Even if you’re not a frequent jazz listener, you’ll appreciate the piano tunes of the legendary Jason Moran. 178 7th Ave S, opens at 8 p.m.

Brunch! Try recently reviewed Galli for a fun vibe and comforting Italian classics with a twist. 98 Rivington St., brunch served Saturdays and Sundays beginning at 11 a.m.


Today’s entertainment comes in the form of half marathoners who will be running from Central Park all the way to the Financial District this morning. Pour the champagne, make some funny posters, download the app to track your friends, and cheer on the crazies! 8 a.m.
