And just like that, it’s summer. I’m back to being a nice person thanks to the apartment building finally turning our air conditioning on, and I’m ready to seize the season before it gets too sticky and smelly to walk around. Here’s our picks for the first week of June!

governors-ball-2013

This weekend marks my fourth run at Governors Ball Music Festival. Though my nana-in-law is still under the impression that we’ll be hobnobbing with the governor of NYC, we will in fact be jamming to beats in the sunshine with thousands of other city folk. For three full days, listen to bands like the Black Keys, Drake, and Florence + the Machine. Buy tickets here. Randall’s Island, 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.

Saturday

Take a train or ferry (a free bus shuttles visitors to and from the East River Ferry Terminal) and enjoy this open-air bazaar featuring Harold and Maude vintage duds, Deepcuts kitschy totes and cartoonish prints from local artist Kudu-lah at the LIC Flea and Food. 5-25 46th Ave, Long Island City
