This Week in NYC: July 27-August 2

Happy Monday! My weekend was marked with a lot of glorious eating (thanks BondST, il Buco Alimentari, and Superiority Burger), and a lot of activity (thanks Urban Mudder). I should be recovering, but the fact that it’s August this week means we’ve got to make up for lost summer time. Our top picks ahead.

Today is one of your last days to check out Hold on to Your Butts, the painfully funny, live shot-for-shot reenactment of Jurassic Park. With every character (including the dinosaurs) played by just two guys, you’ll never see this classic movie the same way again. Get your tickets here. The PIT, 123 E 24th St.

For those New Yorkers lucky enough to get on the Diner en Blanc list this year, you’re in for a treat tonight. It’s worth strolling by the undisclosed location even if you’re not invited, to see the all white-clad diners. The Bitches recently sat down with the co-founder Sandy Safi to get a behind the scenes look. Read our review here.

Every Tuesday from now until October 27th come get an astronaut-worthy view of the stars from the high-powered telescopes of the Amateur Astronomers Association, as its members lead star-spotting expeditions, pointing out celestial bodies above the park. Follow the High Line’s Twitter feed (@highlinenyc) for updates in the event of inclement weather. Click here for more information. The Highline, Washington St at Gansevoort St.

Find your way to the Brooklyn Brewery this weekend to be one of the first to try the new Brooklyn Intensified, a barrel-aged coffee porter brewed in partnership with Blue Bottle Coffee. Taste the first batch of Intensified alongside a deconstructed sampling of each element that went into the beer: raw Salvadorian beans from Finca El Manzano via Cuatro M Cafes, alongside a roasted/cold brewed version from Blue Bottle, bourbon from the barrels and the un-coffee’d porter. RSVP hereBrooklyn Brewery, Williamsburg, 79 North 11th Street, 8:00 to 10:00 PM

Nothing says summer like an ice cold beer, right? Now, imagine over 25 choices in one place paired with some of New York’s best and most popular eats. That’s right, it’s time for Edible Manhattan’s Good Beer! For more information on beer choices and vendors click here. Hudson Mercantile, 500 West 36th Street, 6 to 9 p.m.

Broccoli Rabe Soba Noodles

Are you as tired as we are? How about taking it easy tonight, staying in and making this broccoli rabe peanut soba noodle recipe instead? You’ll thank us later.
