This Week in NYC: July 18-24

Whoa, summer. Slow the heck down. All these planes, trains, and automobiles are really eating away at July, which is why I suggest you make the most of your week with our social calendar, below.

Barbecue lovers, make your way to Old Stone House tonight to learn the history and science behind barbecue at The Masters of Social Gastronomy Present: Barbecue at the Old Stone House. Attendees will learn about everything from Spanish barbacoa to the modern day backyard BBQ. Beer, wine, and food will be available on site for purchase. 336 3rd St., Brooklyn, 8-10 p.m.

The only thing better than shopping is shopping when everything you want is on sale. Score designer goods from Intermix brands at up to 70 percent off at the retailer’s six-day-long sample sale, which kicks off today. 260 Fifth Ave., Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Switch up your workout routine with a barre class at Forte Fit. This class is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so make sure to show up early to ensure you get a spot. 447 Broadway, Floor 2, 8 a.m.

If you work in Midtown, switch up your lunch routine at the Summer on Sixth Food Festival. For four Thursdays – July 21, July 28, August 4, and August 11 – the Avenue of Americas Association will host this food festival featuring dishes from Korilla BBQ, The Wayferer, Dos Toros, and many others. 1251 6th Ave., 11:30 a.m.

We can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night than by feasting on lobster. If you agree, get your tickets to Brooklyn Lobster Fest, where, in addition to eating lobster and mouth-watering side dishes, you can sip on sangria, beer, and craft cocktails. Afterward, dance off your meal while listening to live music. 470 Driggs Ave., Brooklyn, 6-9 p.m.

Haven’t been out to the Hamptons yet this summer? Well, here’s your chance. Join supermodel Christy Brinkley at the 5th annual St. Barth Hamptons event in Bridgehampton for a night of food, drinks, and dancing. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Bridgehampton Historical Museum. 2368 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, 6-10 p.m.
