Need inspiration to do some spring cleaning? Join Fumio Sasaki, author of “Goodbye, Things: The New Japanese Minimalism,” at Japan Society tonight for a discussion about how he opted for minimalism over materialism. Filmmaker Matt D’Avella, whose latest piece of work, “Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things” explores the cultural movement of simple living, will moderate the event. The discussion will be followed by a book signing and reception. Japan Society, 333 East 47th St., 6:30 p.m.
