Tone up for summer with instructors from VIDA Fitness, who leading a variety of yoga classes each Tuesday evening in The Park at CityCenter at the corner of 10th and I streets NW starting at 6:30 p.m. (weather permitting). The Toned Up Tuesdays program is free and open to the public in an effort to promote a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Guests will receive fitness swag from CityCenter DC, VIDA Fitness, City Sports and healthy snacks, shakes and special offers from various local vendors.
ChurchKey is throwing Heavy Seas a big ol’ birthday party for their 20 years in the brewing industry. The entire Heavy Seas crew will be in the house to talk shop, including founder Hugh Sisson. They’ll have brews from their year-round lineup, several vintage beers from 2014 including Holy Sheet Belgian Strong Dark Ale and Plank III Tripel aged on Jamaican Allspice Wood, and several beers from their newly-launched Desert Island series including the Strong Scottish Ale and Schwarzbier.
Thursday night, DNV Rooftop partners with Edible DC to launch its spring/summer season. This ticketed rooftop affair will feature specialty cocktails from lead bartender Matt Allred and bites from Chef Yo Matsuzaki, previewing the season ahead. In addition, downstairs at Zentan, the restaurant will host two private demos—highlighting Japanese whisky and springtime Japanese cuisine. The Penthouse Pool is officially open this weekend! We’ll be soaking up the sun not just at the requisite U Street location, but at the shiny new rooftop at The Yards. D.C. restaurateur and Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn has been retained by Urban Adventures Companies, Inc. (UAC) to create and design a new food and beverage menu for both rooftop locations. The 2015 summer pool season will debut the Penthouse Pool & Lounge at The Yards located on the rooftop of VIDA’s fitness and lifestyle complex at 1212 4th Street, SE. Want to get a spot? Not making it to Gold Cup this Saturday? Instead, get down and Derby for a good cause! If you can’t be at Churchill Downs, join friends from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday on the top level of Johnny Pistolas for traditional Kentucky Derby drinks, fun company, live DJ, and horse racing. They will be collecting $10 cash at the door (100% of which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) for a wristband that gives attendees six hour access to awesome drink specials.
