OK. Enough is enough. The temperatures this weekend in Chicago were beyond ridiculous. The good news is that the 60’s are making an appearance mid-week. While they may not be here to stay, let’s embrace these warmer temps and take advantage of what Chicago has to offer this week.
By 5:00 p.m. on Monday, you will have officially survived the hardest day of the week. Head to Union Sushi + Barbecue Bar and take advantage of one of the best happy hours in River North. The Langham has to be one of my favorite hotels in all of Chicago. Their signature restaurant, Travelle, is hosting its Inaugural Wine Dinner on Tuesday evening. Join the folks from Galerie Winery as they team up with the culinary crew at Travelle, and indulge in a 4-course meal prepared with Napa wines. Tickets are $79/person. Travelle is located at 330 N. Wabash.
After this winter, I’m sure you’ve had plenty of time to perfect your chili recipe. Join us and head to Rock Bottom Brewery at 5:00 p.m. for the 19th Annual Firefighter’s Chili Cook Off. Get your last chili fix for the season as you sample recipes from award winning chefs and local heroes. Cocktails, music, and celebrity judges are all part of the package, too. The best part? All proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Make a donation and join the team here. Rock Bottom Brewery is located at 1 W. Grand Avenue.
Channel your inner know-it-all at Rockit Burger Bar in Wrigleyville for a night of trivia fun. Drink specials include 50% off bottles of wine, $4 Goose Island Green Lines, and $5 shots of Jameson. Enjoy Rockit’s famous burgers while showing off your trivia knowledge. Rockit Burger Bar is located at 3700 N. Clark.
Nothing says TGIF like pasta and vino at Chicago’s largest Italian superstore, Eataly. They are hosting a cooking demo, which centers around the flavors of Florence and Siena, A few menu highlights include Malfatti con Ricotta & Spinaci (Ricotta & Spinach Dumplings) and Bistecca con Ciuffetti d’Erbe (Roasted Strip Steak with Herb Brush). Don’t worry, wine pairings are obviously included. Tickets are $95 and can be purchased here: Eataly is located at 43 East Ohio Street.
The Final Four NCAA games are on today…woo hoo! Let’s be honest, the games are really just an excuse to party…not that we really need a reason. Head to Bub City and get after it early. Their Bloody Mary bar has more fixings than Kentucky has wins (for those of you that aren’t aware, that means a lot). Not a Bloody Mary fan? No worries. Bub City has $9.95 whiskey flights during March Madness. Each time you visit during the tournament, you can enter for a chance to win a pair of Windy City Smokeout 3-day passes. Bub City is located at 435 N. Clark Street.
One of our favorite brunch holidays of the year has arrived…Easter! Regardless if you celebrate or not, it’s a great excuse to take advantage of this brunch-centric holiday. Check back later this week as we share our Easter Brunch Guide. A few top spots include, NoMI, Fig & Olive, and Gather.
