Fall is finally here Bitches! We can hardly believe it. But as we pull out our cozy sweaters and fall booties, we embrace the cool weather that’s to come and are looking forward to some fun Fall events to kick off the season. We are excited to enjoy Oktoberfest the rest of this month, and are loving that breweries and restaurants are embracing the official kick-off beer for fall. Maple and Ash will be hosting a special dinner full of food, drinks and fundraising for a good cause. Enjoy dinner and drinks with Chef Danny Grant of Maple and Ash, and special guest Alice Waters, owner of Chez Panisse and a pioneer of California cuisine. It’s #cocktailtuesday here in the city this week. First, check out River Roast, where the restaurant will host a Reid Bar Pop-Up sponsored by Rhum JM and Chairman’s Reserve. Beverage Director Ken Pritz and his team have created a cocktail list that will be executed by guest bartenders include Melissa Guadalupe from Arbella and Ryan Hoffman from The Drifter. Next, head over to The Heavy Feather in Logan Square for the bar’s monthly event that is focused on spirit education. Each month the bar host’s three vendors that will offer tastings of their various products and discuss the origins and history of each one. Bartenders from the Heavy Feather will be creating cocktails showcasing the highlighted spirits.
Guests will be attending the Diageo Bar Academy School of Rock and Rye, who will be bringing in a bottle of Dickel and Bulleit Rye that is treated with rock candy, paying homage to the history of rye whiskey. Guests will be tasting these spirits with no alteration. Additionally, Plantation Rums will have Plantation 3 Star to taste and discuss with us and Heavy Feather bartenders will have a special cocktail featuring this spirit at the bar. Celebrate Oktoberfest at Chez Moi in Lincoln Park! From now until October 3rd, guests can enjoy three special dishes prepared by Chef Dominique, inspired by and made with beer for the ultimate fall kick-off. This Thursday night work up a sweat and get down with music from rap god, Kendrick Lamar. Nighttime R&B Yoga will host a kick-ass class to music by Kendrick Lamar at Ovation in Fulton Market. Apple Fest is the last big festival of the year and unofficial kickoff to autumn and the holiday season, and is much more than just a standard street festival. With picturesque downtown Long Grove as the backdrop, Apple Fest is really a celebration of the entire town. During the 3-day event, Apple Festers are invited to peruse the timeless village of Long Grove, with its cobblestone walkways, historic buildings and independently-owned boutiques and specialty shops.

Head on over to Haymarket Brewpub in the West Loop for their Haymarket Oktoberfest! Dust off your lederhosen & dirndls and come party. After this weekend’s Ravenswood Art Walk, we are looking forward to heading up north again next weekend for a fun event featuring Dovetail Brewery and Begyle Brewing team, who will be hosting the second annual “Oktoberfestiversary” outdoor bash in their shared parking lot, complete with live music, food trucks and plenty of beer. Or you could head south to Pilsen and celebrate Oktoberfest at the Dusek’s Board and Beer’s third Annual “Blocktoberfest” with a family-friendly block party on the street outside of Thalia Hall.
