Restaurant Developer Adolf Garcia, of awesome spots such as Son of a Butcher and Pearl Tavern, opens his latest culinary creation, Early Society this Monday. Early Society will be an urban take on a classic diner. The grab-and-go station is reminiscent of a grand lobby with vintage leather sofas, cozy rugs, antique photographs and communal tables. It will be the perfect place to grab a quick midweek bite in the Loop. The space will also feature a full service coffee station, a juice bar and a grab-and-go counter. They will be featuring free tastings of Dablon wine and Bell’s beer as well as exclusive access to Cheesie’s Food Truck. It’s Cinco de Mayo, a favorite holiday of ours! We are looking forward to checking our beer and food specials around town in honor of one of our favorite fun-filed holidays. Nana in Lincoln Park will be having a pre-fixe meal in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Executive chef Jeremy Kiens will prepare a special multi-course Mexican meal with courses such as Kingfish Ceviche with avocado and yucca chips; Cochinita Pibil with zucchini ribbons and pea basil cream; and Chicken Roulade with housemade chicken sausage stuffing, Aztec grits and fire-roasted tomato salsa. Owner/beverage director Omar Solis creates handcrafted seasonal cocktails to pair with each course. The four course meal with four course pairings is $35 a person. Broken English Taco Pub opens just in time for Cinco De Mayo! The new space opens this week and will feature traditional and specialty tacos and mezcal-based cocktails. It will have a dive-y look with street art, mural art and an open kitchen with a taco-cart facade. Broken English will seat 90 inside and boasts 40 outdoor seats, as well! Considering the restaurant will be a block north of Millennium Park, you can expect big crowds this summer, and this to be Chicago’s go-to place for margaritas — Olé!
Celebrate National Burger Month and treat yourself to a fancy burger courtesy of Chez Moi in Lincoln Park. Priced at $20, Chef Dominique Tougne prepares a ground beef cheek and shankburger, topped with Swiss cheese, red wine glaze and served with fries. Other burger offerings include the “Chez Moi” Burger; beef, braised short ribs, topped with brie cheese, French fries, and a salad. Also in celebration of National Burger Month, all Kanela Breakfast Club locations will feature Kanela’s signature Café Burger for half-price. The burger features an Angus beef patty, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle on a brioche bun for only $5.50 and is served with house made chips, herb roasted potatoes, side salad or fruit. It’s Kentucky Derby Day, folks, and we are off to the races! We invite you to Pearl Tavern’s Bourbon & Oysters celebration of the 142nd annual Kentucky Derby. The Chicago Bitches, along with Leah Chavie, Jacob Neminarz, Heidy Best and Marley Kayden, will be co-hosting the event, brought to you by Janet Lee Mandell and Izabela Sloma. Festivities are benefiting the #CraveCCC campaign for The Chicago Children’s Choir.
Place your bets on who will be taking home the win, while spending the day filled with bourbon tastings, complimentary mint juleps, and small bites. Enjoy live coverage of the “fastest two minutes in sports” from anywhere in the room. Derby party attire is required.
