January is in full swing Bitches! And while we aren’t freezing out butts off here in the Windy City, we are getting into the groove of 2017 with loads of fun activities around the city.

Monday
Today we are going to go to Happy Hour at the Broken Shaker in the Freehand Hotel… or should we say hours? Stop by for $7 dailies, punch & dealer’s choices, $5 wine & draft beer Monday-Saturday 4-6pm, Sunday 6-8pm! The Broken Shaker is a fave of ours;  revel in the ingenious cocktails composed of elixirs, syrups and infusions made from garden herbs and spices, fresh-pressed produce and exotic ingredients from around the world. Tuesday
Back for it’s 16th year, Stage 773 hosts The Chicago Sketch Comedy festival, here only until January 15th, so don’t miss out! The nation’s largest sketch comedy festival, The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, gathers writers, performers, and comedy lovers together to create and celebrate in the comedy capital of the world. Averaging 20 shows a night, over 11,000 patrons annually brave the Chicago winter to enjoy this comedy oasis. Check out the full schedule of comedy acts here. Wednesday
Flick Lit is the Logan Theatre’s monthly live lit storytelling show devoted to movies. Every second Wednesday of the month come join fellow movie lovers for this fun event.  The show features storytellers performing fiction and nonfiction tales inspired by the films that have shaped their lives, for better or worse. The show also features musical guests, a Siskel & Ebert-style film debate segment, and scene clips from featured movies to introduce the stories told. Admittance is free; for more information, click here.

Thursday
We are going to start are day off by committing to our fitness goals of 2017 and checking out Equinox’s newest class, Firestarter!  This 30-minute workout gives new meaning to cardio HIIT training complete with lightening fast intervals. The class has fitness junkies using their own body weight and step bench to go through innovative and fast paced sequences that will offer a complete cardio challenge. Our favorite gym has added this exciting new class to their already awesome schedule of invigorating workouts. For more information, click here.

Friday
Streeterville’s acclaimed restaurant and bar, GreenRiver, launches its first 6-course tasting menu this week. Did we mention they are Michelin-starred? We will definitely indulge in this multi-course menu that takes inspiration from GreenRiver’s overarching culinary philosophy that focuses on seasonality and sustainable sourcing, while creating a new experience for guests by incorporating unexpected ingredients. With items like risotto with oxtail, parmesan, and crème fraiche, Rohan duck, and waygu beef with roasted wild mushrooms and a miso-celery root puree, we cannot wait to eat everything.  The tasting menu is priced at $125 per person (an additional $55 per person with suggested wine pairing); for reservations and more information, click here.

Saturday
We will be brunching at River Roast this weekend and checking out their homestyle brunch on the river with Chicago blues.Blues & Brunch features River Roast’s signature brunch menu and live blues curated by Executive Chef and Blues aficionado John Hogan. Inspired by traditional Italian Sunday evening dinnersCafe Spiaggia‘s Sunday Supper series is now featuring a weekly rotating, family-style menu comprised of fresh, local ingredients. With Chef-partner Tony Mantuano at the helm, Spiaggia takes guests on a culinary journey, giving them a sense of Italy’s heritage and its finest ingredients, which then guide menus crafted with verve and imagination.
