February is coming to an end, which means that the worst of winter is almost over! Pretty soon we’ll be retiring our down coats and breaking out the shorts. Until then, here’s your weekly social agenda to guarantee a great ending to Chicago’s coldest month.
The weekend may be over, but today is National Margarita Day, so you have a good reason to consume tequila on a Monday. Check out Chicagoist’s guide to the best margaritas in the city here. One of our favorites is at Pork Shoppe in Andersonville; click here to read more about it!
OnEdge is an experimental live performance series that takes place all over the city through March 4th. Today’s feature performance, entitled Broken Red Balloon Dog, is a series of monologues that poke fun at the pretentiousness of the art world. How refreshing! Get the details about this performance, and the others in the series right here.
Pizza is a bit of a controversial topic in this city. Every Chicagoan has an allegiance to their favorite deep dish joint. Connie’s in Gold Coast is elevating the deep dish dining experience by offering live music from Chicago artist Brent Brown every Wednesday night. Click here for all of the details.
If you haven’t seen Downton Abbey yet, you’re missing out. Whether or not you’re a fan of the show, the Bitches will enjoy the Dressing Downton™ exhibition at the Driehaus Museum, which features costumes worn the show. You’ll be transported to early 20th century Britain while you partake in afternoon tea, featuring delightful scones, pastries, and finger sandwiches. Get more info about the exhibition here and the tea experience here.
Today is National Personal Chef Day. Unless you’re living at Downton Abbey, chances are you cook for yourself. You can enjoy the benefits of a personal chef at Chopping Block’s Winter Cocktails and Appetizers event at their Lincoln Square location. Chef Carrie Bradley will prepare seasonal sips and bites while you watch and learn how to recreate the dishes later at home. Click here to sign up for the class.
There are probably 50 concerts happening on any Saturday night in Chicago. Picking just one show to attend is difficult, so we’re giving you several options. Hip hop artist Hoodie Allen will be playing at the Riviera Theatre tonight and tickets are available here. If experimental pop is more up your alley, head to Concord Music Hall for Animal Collective’s show supporting their new album. Tickets can be found here.
Sunday is brunch day. Gather your Bitches and head to one of our favorite brunch spots from the archives. Try the heavenly blackberry bliss cakes at m. henry in Andersonville. Sip mango mimositas at Mercadito in River North. Or, indulge in the fried chicken and waffles at Bar Pastoral in Lakeview. Happy brunching, Bitches!
