You might be out of town, or you might be enjoying the break in Washington. If the latter, we’ve got a list of great things happening in the District this week. So grab your family and friends, and get out there!

Monday
Shopping last minute for gifts? Shops are open downtown and in Georgetown, of course. Check out our gift guide for gals and gift guide for guys for tips and suggestions from yours truly. Our home guide will come shortly after this post.

Last but not least, for your preppy pals, drop by the Tuckernuck Pop Up Shop in Cadey’s Alley, Georgetown.

Tuesday
A number of Washington restaurants are open for business on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our picks? Blue Duck Tavern is offering a seasonal a la carte menu, with several holiday specials. Nopa Kitchen + Bar will offer a seasonal a la carte menu prepared by Executive Chef Greg McCarty.

Wednesday
Mexican for Christmas? Sounds great! Head to Rosa Mexicano, which is serving up a $35 prix fixe and a la carte options on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Get dishes like the Mixiote de Puerco or Pavo en Mole con Relleno de Huitlacoche. Two locations, in Chevy Chase and Penn Quarter.

Thursday
Have you gone ice skating yet this season? There are rinks in Georgetown and Pentagon City, and of course the best rink (in our humble opinion) is at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. This Thursday night, Fatback DJs KC and Steven will be laying down a blanket of jams to keep you warm and toasty while you skate, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Friday
Christmas is over, you’re heading back to the District, and we know the next thing on your mind is your New Year’s plans. Sparkly dress? Check. Lots of fabulous friends? Check. Great party with open bars and gourmet food? Here you go: The Bitches will be celebrating the New Year at DC’s biggest New Year’s Eve party at the Washington Hilton. Click here for info. You’re welcome.

Saturday
It might be nearly January, but you should already start thinking about your February fun. Our pick? The District’s Limo Rally, a combination of classy black cars and debaucherous fun. Put a team of 10 friends together and roam D.C. in a stretch limo while competing in the craziest scavenger hunt. Great prizes will be awarded to the top placing teams, including all-inclusive NYE tickets, free bar tabs, concert tickets, monster prize packs, and more. Use code BWB for $20 off your limo.

Sunday
Brunch, of course. Check out our 2013 Best & Worst Brunches of the year for the complete list of what to add to your brunching agenda in 2014. And,  of course, our Best Bites of 2013 will make you drool.
