Good morning! Today begins week two of the 2012 December Bender. I hope you’re all well-rested and excited for another fun week of holiday parties. This week will bring on some of our favorite things about the Holiday season: mistletoe, egg nog, holiday tunes, shopping, champagne, red wine, baubles, Santa, his reindeer, and we’ll even throw in the Grinch.

Monday

Get festive right from the start with an Egg Nog Happy Hour at Living Social. It’s an adult-oriented winter wonderland with Christmas tunes, Egg Nog cocktails, and general merriment. Best of all, Living Social is right around the corner from the downtown holiday market, so you can stop over after. Tickets, $9. 6 p.m. 918 F Street N.W., Washington, D.C.

Tuesday

Now, I’m a bit of a wino. Red wine, to be specific. But, even if you don’t live off of it, you’re likely to agree that there’s not much beter than a glass of red wine and a good meal on a chilly evening. Cue Bastille, a lovely high-end French restaurant built into a charming little cottage in Alexandria. My old beau took me once for Valentine’s Day and it was oh-so-romantical.Tuesday, the restaurant is hosting a five-course dinner with Bordeaux wine pairings. Details, here. Price: $96 ($60 without pairings). 6 p.m. Bastille, 1201 N. Royal Street, Alexandria, Va.

Wednesday

If you prefer bubbles over red wine, Wednesday is the evening for you and Bistro Vivant is the locale. The restaurant is hosting a champagne tasting and dinner featuring Grand Cru Grower’s Champagne imported by Roanoke Valley Wine Company. The menu includes canapes, local oysters, lobster, and goat cheese cheesecake. Price, $75. 6:30 p.m. Bistro Vivant, 1394 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, Va. (703) 356-1700.

Thursday

Looking to get a great Christmas gift for one of your girlfriends? Stop by Queen Bee Designs Hive in Alexandria, Va. Queen Bee Designs, which makes unique baubles beloved by political ladies like Mrs. Obama, Mrs. Clinton and Mrs. Romney, is having a trunks show all week long. All jewelry & accessories will be offered at wholesale prices – up to 50% retail. The Hive is decked out in the holiday spirit, the event is catered, and the champagne is flowing. More details, here. 1410 Cool Spring Drive, Alexandria, Va.

Friday

All month long, Union Market, the new market that everyone’s raving about, is hosting Grinch Holiday Happy Hours on Friday. The happy hour will include live entertainment, along with special holiday inspired drinks by Buffalo and Bergen & Rappahannock Oyster Bar, and food items from select vendors at the market.  The Grinch will also make a live appearance from 6:30– 7:30 p.m.  for fun holiday photos. Union Market is an artisanal, curated, year-round food market featuring over 40 local vendors.  Through a highly selective process, Union Market is composed of the finest food artisans ranging from up-and-coming entrepreneurs to well known restaurateurs all creating a unique culinary experience. Saturday

Join me and the ladies of The Madison for our favorite event of the year, Madison & Mistletoe, a holiday party with open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and live music by Southern jazz and pop band Doug Clark & The Hot Nuts. This year, it will be held at the Washington Club, that beautiful private old mansion right on Dupont Circle. Tickets, $85, and $10 off with the discount code “mistletoe” through Wednesday. 8:30 p.m to 12:30 a.m., The Washington Club, 15 Dupont Circle.

Sunday

Brunch! Lately, we’ve enjoyed Boxcar Tavern, Ulah Bistro and Floriana and Sixth Engine (reviews coming soon).
