It’s the first week of August and it’s going to be a glorious one. Not just because of the stunning, albeit rather obscure, weather (hey, I’m not knocking it!), but also because there’s so much fun to be had. Have a great one, Bitches!

It’s National Oyster Day! P.J. Clarke’s is celebrating by offering 50 cent Clarke’s Select oysters and $3.50 DC Brau from 2:45 to 7 p.m. and traditional Oysters Rockefeller all day for $8.10. Plus, any day the temperature in Washington during the month of August is 90 degrees or above (they will make the call at 11 a.m.), all P.J. Clarke’s Bubbly Cocktails will be on special for $8.84 from 2:45 to 7 p.m.

If you love sliders, Tuesday night is your night at Policy. Policy is offering all sliders on the menu at 50 percent off on Tuesdays. The menu features six types of sliders, which range from succulent blackened fish to savory curried lamb. All sliders are served in twos with crispy potato straws. Click here to see the full menu.

Metro Cooking DC is introducing an all-new Grand Tasting Pavilion at its November event. But an early event will kick off the partnership on Wednesday, when longtime Metro Cooking featured chef Victor Albisu hosts a Ticket Raid Happy Hour at Del Campo, 777 I Street NW, from 5:30 until 8 pm. The event is free and will feature some of Del Campo’s hors d’oeuvre selections as well as drink specials for purchase. Guests are asked to bring an item from the Capital Food Bank’s most wanted list including canned fruits or vegetables, baking goods, soups or grains, and paper or household items.

It’s nearly Friday! Take an afternoon breather from the office and head to the all-new Dolci Gelati truck for a little refreshment. The Creative Confection Café on Wheels offers gourmet gelato, signature sorbets, pastries, pet-friendly perks, coffee, handcrafted iced beverages and more. Perfect Thursday afternoon treat. Follow @DolciGelatiTruk on Twitter or check out the website for their exact location.

August means summer is winding down, so make sure you get your fill of baseball, hot dogs, beer, and sunshine while you can. Friday night I’ll be at the Nats Game, watching them take on the Phillies. 7 p.m. Get tickets here.

During the day, head to Old Town Alexandria or Del Ray for the fourth annual Sidewalk Sale. There’s free parking on Saturday and sales up to 90 percent off. Get more information here.

Sunday, have brunch. Lately we’ve loved Ripple, Woodward Table, The Atlas Room, and Del Ray Cafe.

That evening, join Beasley Real Estate for the Best of Summer Movie Series. Every Sunday through September 15, the firm is hosting free community movie nights in neighborhoods around the Washington area. There will be a two-story screen, free popcorn and other goodies, too. Guests can start arriving at 7:30 p.m. and the movies start at 8:00 p.m. This Sunday, see “Brave” at Rose Park in Georgetown. Next Sunday, “Sixteen Candles” at St. Lukes in Logan Circle (corner of P and 15th). More info, click here.
